AbstractAbstract
[en] We studied the applicability of the phenomenological approach to the prediction of long-time creep of polymer concrete consisting of polyester binder with diabase filler and diabase aggregate. We discovered that the principles of temperature-time analogy, of moisture-time analogy, and of temperature-moisture-time analogy are applicable to the description of the diagrams of short-time creep and to the prediction of long-time creep of polymer concrete at different temperatures and constant moisture content of the material

AbstractAbstract
[en] The purpose of this work is to prevent a state of art about macro-defect-free cement pastes (MDF cement ) of high mechanical strength. This new type of cement paste is obtained through addition of a water-soluble polymer, followed by intense shear mixing and application of low compacting pressure. It is presented fundamental aspects related to the processing of this MDF paste, as well as its main properties and applications are discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This report concludes the work done on behalf of the Department of the Environment on polymer modified cement composites. Topics covered include: the influence of cure schedule on flexural properties, observation of the onset and cracking during flexural testing, measurement of water permeability and caesium diffusion rates, and the use of Back Scattered Electron Imaging to identify the polymer phase. The properties of epoxide resin modified cements in the previous report were disappointing. Air entrainment of the mixing stage was a likely cause of the poor performance of these products and procedures to overcome this problem were devised. The range of polymer additives investigated was broadened by the inclusion of modified acrylic latexes and a polymensable acrylate resin additive. Properties for OPC and 9 BFS: 1 OPC cements are compared and the modification of properties achieved by polymer additions to both cement systems is discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This invention is concerned with a polymer concrete composition, which is a two-component composition useful with many bases including metal. Component A, the aggregate composition, is broadly composed of silica, silica flour, portland cement, and acrylamide, whereas Component B, which is primarily vinyl and acrylyl reactive monomers is a liquid system

AbstractAbstract
[en] Method of accomplishment of external hydroinsulation of ferroconcrete constructions by bitumen-petrolatum compositions used in the South-Ukrainian NPP building is described. The speciality of this method lies in establishing the combined cover, which includes concrete layer impregnated by modified petrolatum, and the covering layer from bitumen and petrolatum mixture, and performs not only functions of hydroinsulation but also anticorrosive protection under conditions of highly agressive waters action. Physicomechanical characteristics of bitumen-petrolatum compositions are given and the installation for applying of hydroinsulation compositions is described

AbstractAbstract
[en] The principal possibility of anisogrid composite lattice structures application for the reinforcement of concrete structural elements is shown. Anisogrid composite lattice structure are formed by the method of continuous automated winding, which allows obtaining rigid and strong integrated frames. Fiberglass, basalt-plastic or carbon fiber rod and shell anisogrid structures have a high weight perfection. Experimental study of concrete column reinforced with composite lattice structure showed that the load-carrying ability and stiffness of composite-concrete column are comparable with characteristics of similar reinforced concrete ones. It is noted that the corrosion resistance of composite lattice structure is significantly higher steel rods corrosion resistance

Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The most suitable method for measurjng thickness can be chosen only in the light of many factors. Measurement by β reflexion is possible when the average atomic numbers of the coating material and the basic material are sufficiently different. Using three β-emitting isotopes of different energy (147Pm, 204Tl, 90Sr) measurements can be made in a wide range of coating thicknesses. The accuracy is influenced by the standards having equal geometry with the samples. The surface roughness value should not exceed 0,2 μm. The dimensions of the measured surface may not be smaller than 8-10 mm. (V.N.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Water loss from cement slurries is reduced by incorporating within a cement slurry a polymer obtained as a product of radiation-induced polymerization of acrylamide and/or methacrylamide and acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and/or alkali metal salts thereof. The polymerization is preferably carried out in 10 to 60 percent aqueous monomer solution with gamma radiation. The aqueous monomer solution preferably contains 25 to 99 percent acrylamide and 75 to 1 percent sodium acrylate. The polymer can be present in concentration of about 0.001 to about 3.0 weight percent, based on the aqueous phase of the slurry. (U.S.)
