AbstractAbstract
[en] This report details the results of a survey conducted by Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to identify existing tools which could be used to prevent, detect, mitigate, or investigate a cyber-attack in an industrial control system (ICS) environment. This report compiles a list of potentially applicable tools and shows the coverage of the tools in an ICS architecture.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Procedures of re-establishing the normal operation of on-line process computer systems intended for nuclear power plant control by means of a special program forming a constituent part of monitoring are considered. Techniques of recovery involving the devices and programs used are described which result in the detection of troubles or failures in the computer system, verification of the output data, repetition or reconstruction of the programs. A graph is given for determination of the computer system status and re-establishment

AbstractAbstract
[en] An implementation of fuzzy optimization in the reliability of multicriteria selections in control schemes of nuclear reactors and power plants has been presented. In particular, optimization based on the theory of fuzzy sets has been proposed for the majority schemes, taking into account various reasons of failures. Set of fuzzy algorithms has been suggested as a basic technology for ranking process according to standard criterion, which includes steps of construction of the rules, initial estimation, fuzzification, and defuzzification. Software implementations have been presented for the fuzzy approach using the MatLab package

(MatLab)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The old relay based position control system of the Scattering Chamber of K-130 Cyclotron was more than 30 years old, developed multiple problems over the years, and the components of the control system like relays, potentiometers, limit switches, radiation resistant cables were not functioning as per specifications. It has been replaced recently by a new PLC based embedded control system. This has been developed using Advantech ADAM-5510EKW 16 bit CPU together with required I/O modules. MULTIPROG Basic V.4.6 has been used as programming software and Ladder Diagram has been used to realize control scheme of the PLC. A resistive type touch screen based operator panel, WebOP-2104VN4AE has been mounted on the control rack for local control. iFIX SCADA, 75 tags Runtime Version 5.1 has been used to operate from remote PC connected to the PLC by 70m CAT6 cable. The PLC communicates with the touch panel and remote PC through 100 Mbps Ethernet switch. The Graphical User Interfaces of the local control panel and the remote panel have been developed as per the requirement from the users. All the old sensors, limit switches, relays and cables have been replaced by new items. This paper reports about the development and commissioning of basic hardware, software and operation of the control system for last six months. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors describe the findings of a study into the application of formal methods to the specification of a safety system for an operating nuclear reactor. They developed a formal specification that is used to verify and validate that no unsafe condition will result from action or inaction of the system. For this reason, the specification must facilitate thinking about, talking about, and implementing the system. In fact, the specification must provide a bridge between people (designers, engineers, policy makers) and diverse implementations (hardware, software, sensors, power supplies) at all levels. For a specification to serve as an effective linkage, it must have the following properties: (1) completeness, (2) conciseness, (3) unambiguity, and (4) communicativeness. In this paper they describe the development of a specification that has three properties. This development is based on the use of formal methods, i.e., methods that add mathematical rigor to the development, analysis and operation of computer systems and to applications based thereon (Neumann). They demonstrate that a specification derived from a formal basis facilitates development of the design and its subsequent verification

AbstractAbstract
[en] The DAΦNE Control System allowed the step by step commissioning of the major subsystems as they were installed, proving to be modular and extensible. Recently the guidelines of the Control System evolution concerned the development of machine operational procedures and the integration of diagnostic tools. Particular attention has been reserved to the problem of saving and restoring element data sts as well as to the DAΦNE general data handling. A system overview including installation status, features, and operation results is presented
