AbstractAbstract
[en] Apparatus for directly converting thermal energy into rotational movement. A long shaft relative to its cross-section and made of an elastic material with a high thermal coefficient of expansion is equipped with a plurality of journals at prescribed points along its axial length. A corresponding number of fixedly mounted circular bearings receive the journals. The bearings are arranged to constrain the shaft into an elastic arc. Thermal energy is applied to all or a substantial part of the concave surface of the arced shaft. Means may be employed to force cool all or a portion of the convex portion of the arced shaft. As a result of this arrangement, the shaft elastically rotates about its axis within the bearings. Structure is disclosed for coupling the rotational movement of the shaft to a utilization device

AbstractAbstract
[en] A most natural fit exists between fossil-fueled thermoelectric generators and certain heating requirements. Electric power is an essential part of modern heaters. Electric power is used to move the heat, to provide air for clean efficient combustion, and to power control logic. When the primary function of a thermoelectric device is to provide heat and the secondary function is to provide electric power, todays practical thermoelectric material efficiencies of 7-9% are not a dominant design constraint as they are when the only function of the device is to provide electric power. Thermoelectric heater efficiencies of 80% are readily available. This paper describes the development of a thermoelectric engine heater

AbstractAbstract
[en] A radioactive gamma source is coated from one or more sides with a metal layer, e.g. a Co layer. A layer of another metal, e.g. Cu, is deposited on the coat. The other coat is covered with a semiconductor layer also coated with a layer of conductive material. The electric energy off-take is effected from the Cu and the conductive material layers. (B.S.)
