Background
SOX9, a progenitor cell marker, is important for pancreatic ductal development. Our goal was to examine SOX9 expression differences in intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) and ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) compared with benign pancreatic duct (BP).Methods
SOX9 expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry performed on 93 specimens: 37 BP, 24 low grade (LG) IPMN, 12 high grade (HG) IPMN, and 20 PDAC. A linear mixed-effects model was used to compare the percentage of cells expressing SOX9 by specimen type. A separate linear mixed-effects model evaluated differences in SOX9 expression by staining intensity in pancreatic epithelial cells. Results
Nuclear SOX9 expression was detected in the epithelial cells of 98% HG IPMN, 93% LG IPMN, 83% PDAC, and 60% BP. Compared with BP, SOX9 was expressed from a significantly greater percentage of cells in LG IMPN, HG IMPN, and PDAC (p < 0.001 for each). BP and PDAC showed greater variability in SOX9 expression in epithelial cells compared with IPMNs which showed strong, homogenous SOX9 expression in almost all cells. Compared with BP, both LG and HG IPMN showed significantly greater SOX9 expression (p < 0.001 for each), but there was no significant difference in SOX9 expression between LG and HG IPMN (p > 0.05). PDAC had significantly higher expression of SOX9 compared with BP but significantly lower SOX9 expression compared with LG or HG IPMN (p < 0.001 for each). Conclusions
IPMNs demonstrated the highest expression levels of SOX9. SOX9 expression in BP and PDAC demonstrated much more heterogeneity compared with the strong, uniform expression in IPMN.Primary Subject

AbstractAbstract
[en] Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of internal male pseudohermaphroditism in which Mullerian duct derivatives are seen in a male patient. This syndrome is characterized by the persistence of Mullerian duct derivatives (i.e. uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and upper two thirds of vagina) in a phenotypically and karyotypically male patient. In this article we present the USG and MRI features of a case of PMDS with bilateral cryptorchidism and left sided inguinal hernia, containing the uterus and fallopian tubes

AbstractAbstract
[en] Lacrimal dacryoscintigraphy facilitates definite diagnosis of obstructions and stenosis of the lacrimal drainage system with little stress to the patient. Together with x-ray dacryocystography it is an important diagnostic tool especially for pre- and postoperative evaluation of the drainage apparatus. Dacryoscintigraphy is the best method for measuring the dynamics of tear drainage especially in the canaliculi. Although it is not a substitute for other methods in general use, it complements them and expands their diagnostic accuracy

AbstractAbstract
[en] A collimated portable gamma-ray detector will be used to quantify the plutonium content of items that can be approximated as a point, line, or area geometry with respect to the detector. These items can include ducts, piping, glove boxes, isolated equipment inside of gloveboxes, and HEPA filters. The Generalized Geometry Holdup (GGH) model is used for the reduction of counting data. This document specifies the calculations to reduce counting data into contained plutonium and the associated total measurement uncertainty.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Dungeness A was designed and constructed with isolating valves in each main inlet and outlet gas duct. A reconsideration of the possible damage effects which could occur following a variety of postulated burst duct accidents led to a proposal to relocate the actuators, to provide electrical supplies via diverse routes, and to considerably reduce the vulnerability of the drive shafts to damage. The original design features, the uses and weaknesses of the system and the development, installation and testing of the modified system, are described. (U.K.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In a process for the manufacture of thermally highly loaded cooling elements, particularly of an acceleration grid having a large number of holes for neutral particle injection in fusion reactors, open cooling ducts are formed in a baseplate, in particular they were milled, and a cover plate is placed on top, after a layer of solder was placed between the two, and finally, the baseplate and cover plate are soldered together by heating. In order to ensure good soldering of the baseplate and cover plate with great leaktightness of the cooling ducts, spacer and a solder foil are provided between the baseplate and the cover plate and the soldering is done with the cover plate at the bottom. [en] The invention has been aimed at a device for the radiation shield in radiation protection wall penetrations. Within a misaligned tube a protective barrier is arranged through which at least one channel opening is guided on the principle of gap area lapping. The invention renders possible to use much less absorber material for the protective barrier
