AbstractAbstract
[en] A possible probing method, based on the effects induced by the plasma excited medium and the electric properties of a probe discharge is considered here. In some aspects, the method is similar to the optogalvanic one, but instead of light, the perturbation is produced by the active species originating in the probed discharge. In another sense the method can by regarded as an extension of the use of double probe in the range of voltage where the breakdown between the probes appears. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A windowless microwave discharge in He was used to generate Ne emissions in a flow system. Relative transition probabilities for a number of emission arrays were determined from the observed line intensities. Agreement is generally obtained with previous experimental and theoretical work. AbstractAbstract
[en] The statistics of the ignition behaviour of discharge cells in ac plasma displays and interaction processes occurring between several ignited cells are described and interpreted with a view to basic problems of gas discharge and solid state physics. For the statistical evaluation of ignition lag values recorded by means of a computer controlled equipment the Laue distribution is used. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The first electric powder lamp operated that 150 years ago, since then the evolution of light sources is astonishing. Today, more than 10 % of the global electric power produced worldwide serve fore light production from several billions lamps. Since last three decades incandescent lamps are gradually replaced by more energy efficient discharge lamps. In parallel, new generation of light emitting diodes, producing bright colours (including white) with luminous efficacy challenging even discharge lamps, appeared in past years. The objective of this paper is to focus on the state of art in the domain of light sources and discuss the challenges for the near future. (author)
