AbstractAbstract
[en] We calculate the emf produced when a square loop grazes a point dipole, moving parallel to it. To do this we combine analytical and numerical work. An emf signal with a three-peak structure which was previously observed is thus explained, while other signal forms are predicted. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is shown that the turbulent dynamo alpha-effect converts magnetic helicity from the turbulent field to the mean field when the turbulence is electromagnetic while the magnetic helicity of the mean-field is transported across space when the turbulence is elcetrostatic or due to the electron diamagnetic effect. In all cases, however, the dynamo effect strictly conserves the total helicity expect for a battery effect which vanishes in the limit of magnetohydrodynamics. Implications for astrophysical situations, especially for the solar dynamo, are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] This study shows physicists' discussions on the meaning of Faraday's law where situations involving extended conductors or moving contact points are particularly troublesome. We raise questions to test students' difficulties in applying Faraday's law in motional electromotive force phenomena. We suggest the benefit of analysing these phenomena when teaching Faraday's law in introductory physics courses at university. We are not implying that Faraday's law should be revised, but we do want to set the stage for careful rethinking regarding the meaning and application of each term of the law as it appears in traditional introductory courses. AbstractAbstract
[en] In the paper the non-destructive rapid control of plastic deformation of metals and alloys by measuring the differential thermo-electromotive force (thermo-emf) is devoted. With using the manufactured for this purpose the device measurements of thermo-emf on several types of steel were performed. For localize the place of plastic deformation on the samples the incisions were made. In the process of stretching the samples at the place of the proposed plastic deformation and near the thermo-emf was measured. In the process of stretching of the sample decreasing of thermo-emf occurs almost linearly. Before the break maximum change of the thermo-emf of the sample was observed. Key words: plastic deformation, the thermo-electromotive force, rapid control»

AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper highlights the ELF EMF radiation safety assessment performed at an overhead 275-kV High-Voltage Transmission Lines (HVTL). The study comprised of assessment performed at three (3) different transmission lines. The instrument setup and measurement protocols during the assessment were adopted from standard measurement method and procedures stipulated under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standard. The results were compared with the standards recommended in the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) guidelines. The results showed that the measured electric and magnetic field strengths were within the permissible exposure limit. Both the field strengths were found to drop significantly against distance from the transmission lines where closer distances showed higher field strengths. (author)

[en] Highlights: ► This paper presents MPPT based control for optimal wind energy capture using RBFN. ► MPSO is adopted to adjust the learning rates to improve the learning capability. ► This technique can maintain the system stability and reach the desired performance. ► The EMF in the rotating reference frame is utilized in order to estimate speed. - Abstract: This paper presents maximum-power-point-tracking (MPPT) based control algorithms for optimal wind energy capture using radial basis function network (RBFN) and a proposed torque observer MPPT algorithm. The design of a high-performance on-line training RBFN using back-propagation learning algorithm with modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) regulating controller for the sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The MPSO is adopted in this study to adapt the learning rates in the back-propagation process of the RBFN to improve the learning capability. The PMSG is controlled by the loss-minimization control with MPPT below the base speed, which corresponds to low and high wind speed, and the maximum energy can be captured from the wind. Then the observed disturbance torque is feed-forward to increase the robustness of the PMSG system
