AbstractAbstract
[en] A control system for a neutron three-axis spectrometer is introduced. An old unflexible control system has been replaced by an electronic system. While the old system used relais and transistors five microprocessors driven by an hierarchical process computer are responsible for various tasks. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Up till now micro-switches has been employed to detect the dropping-behind of the foil in order the spectrometer to be followed properly by the sliding-foil. The pressed micro-switch made run the step motor until the foil released the micro-switch. This caused a jerkily following of the foil when the spectrometers were rotated. The replacing system uses a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) to detect the follow-error. The LVDT yields a signal which is proportional with the follow-error. This signal is transformed in a frequency in the conditioner which is proportional to the follow-error. During the rotation of the spectrometers the step motors will run continuously in order to zero the follow-error. A LVDT has been chosen as follow detector since it does not have wearing components, is not sensitive to contamination and can resist a rather high radiation dose. The totally integrated flux for Schaevitz LVDT's with opt.120 is 1012 NVT and for the XS-ZTR design 3*10'20 NVT. (author). 3 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The use of unmanned systems is gaining momentum in civil applications after successful use by the armed forces around the globe. Autonomous aerial vehicles are important for providing assistance in monitoring highways, power grid lines, borders, and surveillance of critical infrastructures. It is envisioned that cargo shipping will be completely handled by UAVs by the 2025. Civil use of unmanned autonomous systems brings serious challenges. The need for cost effectiveness, reliability, operation simplicity, safety, and cooperation with human and with other agents are among these challenges. Aerial vehicles operating in the civilian aerospace is the ultimate goal which requires these systems to achieve the reliability of manned aircraft while maintaining their cost effectiveness. In this presentation the development of an autonomous fixed and rotary wing aerial vehicle will be discussed. The architecture of the system from the mission requirements to low level auto pilot control laws will be discussed. Trajectory tracking and path following guidance and control algorithms commonly used and their implementation using of the shelf low cost components will be presented. Autonomous takeo? landing is a key feature that was implemented onboard the vehicle to complete its degree of autonomy. This is implemented based on accurate air-data system designed and fused with sonar measurements, INS/GPS measurements, and vector field method guidance laws. The outcomes of the proposed research is that the AUS-UAV platform named MAZARI is capable of autonomous takeoff and landing based on a pre scheduled flight path using way point navigation and sensor fusion of the inertial navigation system (INS) and global positioning system (GPS). Several technologies need to be mastered when developing a UAV. The navigation task and the need to fuse sensory information to estimate the location of the vehicle is critical to successful autonomous vehicle. Currently extended Kalman filtering is used as fusion algorithm for position and poses estimation. Then path planning, trajectory generation and trajectory guidance alternative strategies is presented. One of the important UAV mission is target surveillance using an onboard vision system. AUS-UAV Mazari is using a gimbaled camera for target monitoring and target tracking using basic digital image processing and techniques. Successful moving target geo-location algorithms were developed and results will be presented. Future plan is to develop a cooperation strategy between several vehicles in the air and on the ground. Use of vision system to aid the vehicle in localization using ground features is also under consideration.

AbstractAbstract
[en] A rotor diaphragm with electronic control is developed for automating microphotometering process. The diaphragm design is described and the flowsheet of the electronic control device is shown. The diaphragm incorporates one micarta and two brass disks at diameter 107 mm. All the disks have six axially coincident holes along a circumference whose radius is 37 mm and angular interval is 60 deg. In the first micarta disk 3 mm thick, the hole diameter is equal to 10 mm, and the middle brass disk 0.6 mm thick has square holes 15 x 15 mm for compensation filters. The second thin brass disk 0.2 mm thick has calibrated openings, the diameters of which correspond to microphotometered areas with diameter 800, 580, 280, 168, 96 and 48 μm. The automatic diaphragm has been successfully operated during three years and permitted to considerably enhance the experimental data processing rate

AbstractAbstract
[en] A description is given of a renography (RNG) technique employing a new electronic system for localization of the kidneys. Reference values and precision of the technique are given. On the basis of the data from 243 patients it is shown that RNG to a large extent can replace intravenous pyelography (IVP) in the control of patients treated surgically for carcinoma of the uterine cervix. From 80 comparisons of the results of IVP and RNG combined with an X-ray of the abdomen an examination protocol for patients with unilateral ureterolithiasis is put forward. From the results of pre- and postoperative measurements in 28 patients undergoing unilateral nephrectomy, preoperative renography and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) determination is recommended for the routine assessment of the residual kidney function

AbstractAbstract
[en] The design and working of a new type of irradiation head, along with an electronic control system are described. The irradiation head can locate the sample vial in a precsely known horizontal position with an accuracy of +- 0.1 mm. The electronic system provides an automatic control for all the operations needed in the activation analysis experiments. (auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A piezoelectric load cell which can be utilized for detecting collisions and obstruction of a robot arm end effector includes a force sensing element of metallized polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) film. The piezoelectric film sensing element and a resilient support pad are clamped in compression between upper and lower plates. The lower plate has a central recess in its upper face for supporting the support pad and sensing element, while the upper plate has a corresponding central projection formed on its lower face for bearing on the sensing element and support pad. The upper and lower plates are doweled together for concentric alignment and screwed together. The upper and lower plates are also adapted for mounting between the robot arm wrist and end effector. 3 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] DATEP (Distributore Alta Tensione Programmabile) has been designed to distribute high voltage to some 1500 PM's for the gamma detectors (part C) of EHS. Each unit has its own microprocessor controller which performs continuous checking of the 120 channels and allows operator interaction. Channel regulators are based on a specially developed thick film hybrid circuit that allows to get on overall temperature coefficient better than 50 ppm/0C. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] With the aid of a reliably working control mechanism patients confined to bed are drawn on to an X-ray examination device by means of a roller cloth. The control mechanism will guarantee automatic reset of the roller cloth into the initial examination position after each examination. It has got snap switches and cam plates for determining the sense of rotation and the initial examination position. Thow-over switches, relays, and locking contacts as well as contact-breaker points will switch in and out the drive mechanism for the roller cloth. (ORU)
