[en] Out of 124 CT (computerized tomography) examinations made by the Ophtalmological Department of the Regional Hospital in Usti nad Labem during the last threee years, in 10 cases orbits with the presence of intraocular foreign bodies were examined. Experience is reported assembled during the mentioned applications of CT in the diagnosis of intraocular foreign bodies. Advantages but also certain limitations are discussed of the localization of foreign bodies using CT. In two out of 10 cases the foreign body was located by CT incorrectly. In the remaning eight cases the CT examination was a great asset and contributed greatly to successful operation (50% of patients with vision of 6/6). (author). 13 figs., 1 tab., 10 refs

[en] Description of a 4 year old girl with acute lymphatic leukeamia in total bone marrow remission, with infiltrations in iris and uveitis, complicated by hypopisn and raised intraocular pressure. A diagnostic paracentesis of the anterior chamber was performed with a cytologic diagnosis established. With radiation of the anterior segment of the eye the leukaemic infiltration of the iris, hypopion and glaucoma cleared. It appears that a barrier perhaps exists which does not allow for full penetration of the iris by cytostatics so that residual leukaemic cells remain after initial therapy

Aantasting van die oog deur leukemie is bekend en volgens histopatologiese ondersoek word die choroied en die retina die meeste betrek. Leukemiese irisinfiltrasie is egter selde in die literatuur beskryf. Johnton en Ware het slegs 5 gevalle van geisoleerde irisaantasting in akute leukemie in die literatuur gevind. It is now possible to present the estimated cumulative incidence probabilities for selected ocular lesions based on the complete set of data. Although there appears to be relatively little difference between most experimental groups, there is some evidence that ocular lesions may be more frequent in dogs irradiated at 28 or 55 days postcoitus (dpc) or 2 days postpartum

[en] Macular telangiectasia type 2 (Mac Tel 2) is a bilateral disease of unknown cause with characteristic changes of the retinal vasculature. To the best of our knowledge, we could not find any reported cases of Mac Tel 2 with retinal arterial macroaneurysm (RAM). Our aim is to report a case of Mac Tel 2 with RAM.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The purpose of this m anuscript is to present the use of CT in the evaluation of 42 cases of orbital lesions studied at the National Institute of Cancer in an one year and half period. Correlation with clinical and pathological data was performed and the results compared with those of the literature. Four cases of rare lesions are shown: alveolar soft tissue sarcoma, giant cell tumor and hematogenic metastatic deposits of a clear cell sarcoma and epidermoid carcinoma. The value of CT in the evaluation of all orbital masses is emphasized. (author)

A apreciacao de lesoes de orbita por meio de tomografia computadorizada permitiu aos autores reunir, no servico de radiologia do INCa, em um periodo de aproximadamente um ano e meio uma colecao de 42 casos, numero muito acima da media das publicacoes pertinentes. Com isso, ampliou-se consideravelmente o perfirl dos achados ate hoje descritos, obtendo-se uma versao atualizada e mais proxima do quadro de sua real incidencia em nosso meio. Com o concurso da clinica e da histopatologia, os resultados encontrados foram conferidos com os da literatura medica. Observaram-se diferencas na ordem de ocorrencia das lesoes relacionadas e registraram-se quatro casos raros: um sarcoma alveolar de partes moles (apenas cinco casos foram relatados em todo o mundo ate 1973), um tumor de celulas gigantes da orbita, uma lesao metastatica da orbita com primario de sarcoma de celulas claras do joelho e uma lesao metastatica com primario de carcinoma epidermoide do membro inferior. Confirmou-se, ainda, a excelencia da tomografia computadorizada no diagnostico das lesoes da orbita, o que, em face do atual estagio de aparelhamento dos nossos hospitais, justifica plenamente sua irrestrita eleicao para este fim.
