[en] This Decree defines the type of lasers covered by its provisions (lasers with wavelengths longer than 200 nm but less than 1 mm). It divides lasers into classes according to the degree of hazard they represent, and lays down technical safety conditions for their use and also prescribes the protective equipment required for such use. (NEA)

[en] Following accession of Finland on 14 January 1977 to the Brussels Convention Supplementary to the Paris Convention on Third Party Liability in the Field of Nuclear Energy, the present Decree declared that Sections 30 to 32 of the Nuclear Liability Act of 8 June 1972 would come into force on 14 April 1977, which is the date of entry into force for Finland of the Brussels Supplementary Convention. Furthermore, another Decree of 28 January 1977 also implemented an Act of 7 January 1977 amending Section 30 of the Nuclear Liability Act, in application of the Brussels Supplementary Convention, to the effect that individuals having their habitual residence in Finland are assimilated to Finnish nationals.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Finnish power companies, TVO and IVO, chose the wet storage method when building the interim spent fuel stores at Olkiluoto and Loviisa NPP sites. These choices were based on extensive comparative studies of different storage methods and designs. TVO's and IVO's stores started operation in the financial years 1987 and 1984 respectively. TVO's was built as an away-from-reactor (AFR) store on the NPP site, IVO's as an at-reactor-store, wall-to-wall to the NPP process building. The operating experience with both stores is good. 4 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The accumulation rate for different mushroom species varies, but there does not seem to be any clear correlation between the 137 Cs concentrations (Bq/kg fw) in the 1990-1991 mushrooms and the length of the ecological half-life. This is despite the fact that the highest concentrations have been measured in Cortinarius armillatus, the ecological half-life of which appears to be of the order of the physical T of 137 Cs, 30 y. All the Russula species have had low concentrations, although the half-lives are rather long 11-18 y. Lactarius trivialis has highers levels than the other analysed Lactarius species but there is no correlation with the half-lives. The type of forest stand does not seem to have any ef-fect on the caesium concentrations, except possibly for Rozites. (AU)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The earliest Svecofennian magmatism in southern Finland has been dated at 1.90-1.88Ga. As an example of this, the Orijärvi (ca. 1.89Ga) and Enklinge (ca. 1.88Ga) volcanic centres comprise bimodal plutonic batholiths surrounded by volcanic rocks of comparable ages and chemical compositions. Here, we report geochemical and Sm-Nd isotope data from intrusive and extrusive samples, combined with zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopes for granodiorites from both study areas. The samples range from gabbros to granites and indicate a subduction-related continental margin setting. The zircons from the Orijärvi granodiorite define an age of 1892±4Ma whereas the Enklinge granodiorite yields an age of 1882±6Ma. Several inherited ages of 2.25-1.95Ga as well as younger ages of 1.86-1.80Ga were found in the Enklinge granodiorite. The initial εNd values from the mafic rocks from both locations fall in the range +1.1 to +2.9 whereas the felsic rocks exhibit initial εNd values of -0.4 to +1.2. The magmatic zircons from the Orijärvi and Enklinge granodiorites show average initial εHf values of -1.1 (at 1892Ma) and zero (at 1882Ma), respectively, each with a spread of about 7 ε-units. The initial εHf values for the inherited zircons from Enklinge range from +3.5 to +7.6 with increasing age. The Sm-Nd data indicate that the mafic rocks were derived from a “mildly depleted” mantle source while the felsic rocks show larger crustal contribution. Also, the variation in εHf values indicates minor mixing between mildly depleted mantle derived magmas and crustal sources. U-Pb ages and Hf isotopes for inherited zircons in the Enklinge granodiorite suggest the presence of juvenile Svecofennian “proto-crust” at depth.
