AbstractAbstract
[en] A generalized protocol for radionuclidic spiking of solid, granular matrices (e.g., soils and sands for gamma-ray-spectrometry calibration sources in Marinelli-beaker configurations) has been devised and developed. The protocol has been found to be very quantitative (in terms of the retention of chemically stable spiking radionuclides and the recovery of the spiked matrix), verifiable (in terms of, for example, demonstrating source homogeneity or accounting for possible spike losses) and efficacious (in terms of its suitability for producing spiked sources and ability to be easily reproduced)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We show that the classical model widely employed for the field radiated by an excited Moessbauer nucleus predicts an enhanced rate of coincidences for two detectors. This contradicts our experiment. We discuss the limits of applicability of the classical field concept for various experimental conditions. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The objective of this study was to determine the presence of 14 OCPs (HCH (α, β, γ, δ), aldrin, α-endosulfan, dieldrin, p,p'-DDE, endrin, β-endosulfan, p-p'-DDD, p-p'-DDT, endosulfan sulfate, endrin aldehyde) and radionuclides (Ra226, Th232, K40, Co60, Cs134, and Cs137) in soil and sediment samples collected from Kura-Aras river systems of the Azerbaijan. The Pearson's r, correlation coefficient was calculated between OCP and Radionuclides. As it turned out, relatively good correlation is observed (0.73 in soils and 0.94 in sediments) between OCP and Cs137 in the investigated samples

[en] The objective of this study is to achieve quality control of gamma spectrometry in the laboratory using Radio analyse card checks. The interpretations of these maps show that the two gamma spectrometry detectors present many anomalies. The results showed that the problems from either the gamma spectrometry chain or the external environment which requires developing a set of some preventive solutions that will accompany each calibration. AbstractAbstract
[en] A method is presented for calculating the effective γ-quanta spectra for conditions of parallel-plate barrier geometry of irradiation from an isotropic 60Co source, when multiple Compton scattering plays the most important part in the process of propagation of γ-radiation. It is a version of the successive collision method, in which an actual γ-quanta spectrum is expressed as the infinite sum of the partial spectra of γ-quanta that undergo a certain number of Compton scatterings. The convergence of this series of partial spectra is analytically proven for a real range of the energy changes
