AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports on modern shell-model wave functions that predict relative Gamow-Teller (GT) strengths which agree well with experimental observations. It is essential that both spin-orbit partners of each orbital be included in the model vector space to obtain quantitative theoretical agreement with observations, since the spin-flip aspect of GT operator is dominant. This requirement on vector spaces has the practical effect of limiting quantitative analyses of Gamow-Teller decay with classical shell-model techniques to the p shell and sd shell, with only minor excursions into the fp shell. The authors restrict attention here to the sd shell

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Gamow-Teller strength at high energy, in the vicinity of the pion mass, is linked to the absorption of p wave pions. It is not subject to Pauli blocking and increases linearly with the nucleon number. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We investigated the distortion effects on the spin transfer coefficient Dnn for the intermediate energy (p,n) charge exchange reactions leading to the Gamow-Teller resonance in the continuum region. When the distortion is included, the imaginary parts of both the central and the tensor direct contributions are significantly changed. Also, the magnitude of T00 becomes smaller, which results in larger Dnn values. We also found that when the distortion is included the phase difference between T00 and T20 in the complex plane remains almost the same for different Q-values

AbstractAbstract
[en] Development of theories of configuration mixing is reviewed, concentrating on their application to spin-isospin modes, especially to the Gamow-Teller transitions. This talk is divided into three historical stages, the first order configuration mixing as the first stage, the second order configuration mixing as the second stage, and the delta-isobar-hole mixing as the third stage

AbstractAbstract
[en] Several recent papers purport to ''test'' the Gamow-Teller sum rule. They compare the differences between incomplete strength function integrals for the β- and β+ directions with the quantity 3(N-Z) and interpret discrepancies as degrees of failure of the sum rule. We point out that the Gamow-Teller sum rule is an exact operator relationship, not a model to be tested. It is useful for determining whether a measured strength function is complete
