AbstractAbstract
[en] Increasing the operation speed in machines and equipment was imposed both by requirements from the new technologies and by the appearance of new fields of applications as, for instance, the high vacuum techniques. These techniques require very high rotation speeds, of the order of tens thousand rotations per minute, at power levels of tens or hundreds watts. The electric motors used for driving are called also super-fast motors. In this work the most used types of driving systems with super-fast motors are presented as well as the advantages and disadvantages of any type. Constructive solutions based on an experience of ten years of activity in this field are also presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] GANIL is a particle accelerator at this time in construction in Caen. His machine must accelerate all ions from Carbon to Uranium to obtain an energie from 100 MeV/nucleon (Carbon) and 5 MeV/nucleon (Uranium). GANIL mainly consists in 3 accelerators at first a classical cyclotron being followed by 2 separated sector cyclotrons. A beam line equipped with many apparatus assures the carriage of particles from the first cyclotron to physicist experiments. The pressure inside every machine and inside every different part of beam line must be low enough to conserve particles. That pressure depends on nature, speed and charge of ions. The value of pressure varies from 4.10-5 Pa (approximately 4.10-7 Torr) to 2.10-6 Pa (approximately 2.10-8 Torr). We will only speak here about first separated sector cyclotron which must have a pressure of about 2.10-6 Pa

AbstractAbstract
[en] From gettering point of view the refractory metals have been extensively studied and they are used in most of the getter ion pumps. But due to high vapourization temperature the use of these metals is very inconvenient and create many thermal problems in the pumps. So a low vapourization temperature material for the gettering purpose is highly desirable. A strong gettering action has been observed in the case of YF3 having quite low vapourization temperature (approximately 1500deg C at 10-5 torr) while evaporating it for thin film preparation. This prompts the study of such a behaviour in detail. The preliminary results are quite interesting and encouraging. A reduction of pressure from 10-5 torr to 10-7 torr in a vacuum chamber of 20 litre capacity is obtained in few minutes at an evaporation rate of 10 mg/min. (auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This pump belongs to the vacuum system of GANIL. GANIL is a particle accelerator in construction in Caen consisting principally of two separated sector cyclotrons. To pump a total surface of about 1000 m2 it has been decided to install a cryogenic pump of 20,000 ls. This system must be able to maintain a pressure of 2.10-6 Pa (2.10-8 torr) in the vacuum chamber of the SSC over a period of at least one month without regeneration by warm-up. (author)
