AbstractAbstract
[en] Beta spectra have been measured and total β-decay energies have been deduced for strongly neutron-rich indium isotopes. Mass separated sources were produced at the OSIRIS on-line separator at Studsvik. By applying β-γ coincidence methods, Qsub(β)-values were determined for isomers of 120-129In. For these nuclei, the atomic mass excess could be derived, allowing the comparison of masses of neutron-rich unstable nuclei with predictions from mass formulae. The mean uncertainty of the experimental mass excesses is 0.12 MeV. The precision of the mass formulae chosen for the comparison varies widely with the mean deviation ranging from 0.12 to 1.39 MeV. AbstractAbstract
[en] A dual wavelength spectrophotometric method is applied to analyze micro amounts of indium (III) in radioactive 111InCl3 solution produced by an accelerator. Indium with phenyfluorone (PF) forms stable complex in the presence of cetylpyridium bromide (CPB) at pH6.5. The maximum absorption of the complex is the absolute amplitude between peaks measured at wavelength of 568 nm and 520 nm. The molar absorptivity is 2.6 x 104 m2/mol. Beer's law is obeyed for indium in the range of 0-0.4 mg/L. The mole ratio of indium, n(In):n(PF):n(CPB)=1:2:2. The relative standard deviation is less than 5% and In(III) recovery is 96%-108%. AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of recent studies of the Gamow-Teller β-decays of nuclei in the 100Sn region are presented. Measurements performed with the use of the total absorption γ-ray spectrometer and the Cluster Cube array of germanium detectors revealed qualitatively new information on the Gamow-Teller strength distribution in the decays of 97Ag and 103endash107In. The shape of the measured β-strength distribution and the resulting total BGT values are compared with the results of shell-model calculations. copyright 1998 American Institute of Physics

AbstractAbstract
[en] Cross-sectional scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) has been used to characterize compositional structures in InAs0.87Sb0.13/InAs0.73P0.27 and InAs0.83Sb0.17/InAs0.60P0.40 strained-layer superlattice structures grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. High-resolution STM images of the (110) cross section reveal compositional features within both the InAsxSb1-x and InAsyP1-y alloy layers oriented along the [bar 112] and [1 bar 12] directions the same as those in which features would be observed for CuPt - B type ordered alloys. Typically one variant dominates in a given area, although occasionally the coexistence of both variants is observed. Furthermore, such features in the alloy layers appear to be correlated across heterojunction interfaces in a manner that provides support for III - V alloy ordering models which suggest that compositional order can arise from strain-induced order near the surface of an epitaxially growing crystal. Finally, atomically resolved (1 bar 10) images obtained from the InAs0.87Sb0.13/InAs0.73P0.27 sample reveal compositional features in the [112] and [bar 1 bar 12] directions, i.e., those in which features would be observed for CuPt - A type ordering. copyright 1999 American Vacuum Society

[en] The neutral complexes In2X4.2L (X=Cl, Br, I; L 1,4-dioxan, tetrahydropyran, tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydrothiophene), In2X4.2L (X=Br, I; Ldimethylsulphide), In2X4.4L (X=Cl, Br, I; Lpiperidine, piperazine, morpholine), and In2X4.4L (X=Br, I; L=pyridine, dimethylsulphoxide) have been prepared. Solid state Raman spectra indicate that the compounds contain indium-indium bonds

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of indium phosphide structures research, showing the possibility of using in the near infrared range photocathodes of InP/InGaAs, are represented. An optimal method of obtaining the atomically clean indium phosphide surface was suggested. The spectral characteristics of InP/InGaAs heterostructure were given. The results of an experimental study of pin-diode, which was used as the receiver of photoelectrons, are presented. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The β+-spectra of the neutron deficient indium nuclei, with mass number from 108 down to 103, have been measured using a solid state beta detector. The activities, produced in heavy ion reactions, have been separated. The nuclear masses have been determined from the endpoint energies. The mass of 103In shows a marked deviation from the value predicted by systematics. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The decay properties of 90Rb, 102,103,104,106In and 120,122,124In nuclei were investigated using γ,β,βγ and conversion electron spectroscopic methods. The sources were produced from internal bombardment and from the on-line mass spectrometer facility using the external beam of the McGill synchrocyclotron. Modifications to the mass spectrometer for converting it into an isotope separator are described. Separate decay schemes for the following isomers are proposed. sup (90g)Rb (T1/2 = 2.70 +-0.05 min, J sup(π) = (1-)), sup (90m)Rb (T1/2 = 4.30 +- 0.07 min, J sup(π) = (4-)), 102In (T1/2 = 42 +- 8 sec), 103In (T1/2 = 59+- 10 sec), 104In (T1/2 = 1.8 +- 0.2 min), sup (106g)In (T1/2 = 6.2 +- 0.1 min, J sup(π) = (6+, 7+)), sup (106m)In (T1/2 = 5.2 +- 0.1 min, J sup(π) = (3+-)) 120In (T1/2 = 46.2 +- 0.8 sec. J sup(π) = (3+, 4+, 5+), T1/2 = 47.3 +- 0.5 sec, J sup(π) = (8-)), 122In (T1/2 = 10.3 +- 0.6 sec, J sup(π) = (3+, 4+, 5+), T1/2 = 10.8 +- 0.4 sec, J sup(π) = (8-)), and 124 In (T1/2 = 3.9 +- 0.3 sec, J sup(π) = (8-)). The resultant level structure of the daughter nuclei are compared to a theoretical calculation based on the BCS formalism with the Tabakin residual interaction using an inert core of Z=28, N=50.
