[en] This letter serves as the post-closure monitoring letter report for the above Corrective Action Unit (CAU) for calendar year 2006. CAU 91 is inspected every six months. The first inspection was conducted on March 23, 2006, and the second inspection was conducted on September 19, 2006. All access roads, fences, gates, and signs were in excellent condition. No settling, cracking, or erosion was observed on the cover, and the use restriction had been maintained. No issues were identified, and no corrective actions were needed. The post-closure inspection checklists for CAU 91 are attached. Photographs and fields notes taken during site inspections are maintained in the project files
[en] A total of eight short duration injection tests were conducted on wells at the M-Area Western Sector In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) test site. For each injection event, approximately 200 gallons of water were gravity drained into the well casing. Pressure response was monitored in the injection well and these data were used to estimate the injection capacity of each well. Nearby injection wells were used as observation wells and data from these wells were used to estimate local hydraulic conductivity.
[en] An approach for the optimization of hydrocarbon production from a single field or pool, called the Protective Pool Alliance (PPA), was described. The approach involves the mutually beneficial cooperation of one or more service companies with special knowledge of the field or pool in question and the operators actively producing in the area. The cooperation consists principally of identifying the causes of decreased production, developing a site-specific damage removal system, followed by a site-specific maintenance system that reduces overall operating expenses while maximizing production. Stimulating producing wells, and converting existing producing wells to injectors, play important roles in the financial optimization of many aging fields; details of these operations and associated problems were reviewed. 1 fig

[en] This final report describes the progress during the six year of the project on ''Integrated Approach Towards the Application of Horizontal Wells to Improve Waterflooding Performance.'' This report is funded under the Department of Energy's (DOE's) Class I program which is targeted towards improving the reservoir performance of mature oil fields located in fluvially-dominated deltaic deposits. The project involves using an integrated approach to characterize the reservoir followed by drilling of horizontal injection wells to improve production performance. The project was divided into two budget periods. In the first budget period, many modern technologies were used to develop a detailed reservoir management plan; whereas, in the second budget period, conventional data was used to develop a reservoir management plan. The idea was to determine the cost effectiveness of various technologies in improving the performance of mature oil fields
[en] The purpose of this project was to provide the resources and capabilities necessary to permit the State of Oklahoma to conduct Area of Review (AOR) variance analysis on a statewide level. The project allows for the analysis and identification of areas which may qualify for AOR variances, the correlation of information from various databases and automated systems to conduct AORs in area which do not qualify for variances, the evaluation of the risk of pollution, during permitting and monitoring, using risk-based data analysis, and the ability to conduct spatial analysis of injection well data in conjunction with other geographically referenced information

[en] The objective of this work was to characterize material accumulating on wells 299-W10-35 (C7573) and 299-W14-74 (C7024) to determine the type of material (i.e., chemical or biological) and, if the material is biological, to identify the microorganisms present. Extraction and injection wells 299-W10-35 (C7573) and 299-W14-74 (C7024) possess unknown material attached to the well screens (Figure 1). Both wells are located on the Hanford Site. Well 299-W10-35 (C7573) is located west of the 218-W-3A dry waste burial ground, west of Dayton Avenue, and north of 23rd Street and has accumulated white material on the screen and in the sump. Well 299-W14-74 (C7024) is located south of 23rd Street and east of Beloit Avenue. There are two types of material: one is reddish/orange (hypothesized to be iron-utilizing bacterial colonies) and the other is white and may or may not be biological. CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company (CHPRC) is conducting onsite sampling for total organic carbon, calcium carbonate, and metals. Table 1 presents chemical data for the groundwater samples associated with these materials. Post-closure care consists of the following: Semiannual inspections of the unit using an inspection checklist; photographic documentation; field note documentation; and preparation and submittal of an annual report. The report includes copies of the inspection checklist, photographs, and recommendations and conclusions. The Post-Closure Inspection Checklists are found in Attachment A, a copy of the field notes is found in Attachment B, and a copy of the inspection photographs is found in Attachment C
