AbstractAbstract
[en] The World Association of Nuclear Operators was formed by nuclear utilities to raise safety standards. One of the early priorities of WANO, was to establish a programme of East-West exchange visits between nuclear plants. As described here, that goal has been accomplished with a remarkable degree of success. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Turning to the subject of non-military menace as a new reality in relation between countries, a complex of problems are pointed out. In spite of the positive possibilities proclaimed by this approach, genetic engineering development threatens to introduce a new environmental pollution - biological, which will eliminate differences in animal species diversity. Developing and newly independent countries are urgent by the ideas of society on repeating the way of developed countries on the one hand, and they will not be equally recognized by the later on the other. In this difficult situation the only way for human development on the basis of global partnership. And that is the way for Kazakstan to choose. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] China has concluded that nuclear power is safe and reliable and is planning to build six 900MW nuclear power stations as a long-term energy source as part of her modernisation programme. The present plan is to build two each in south China, east China and the north-east, where shortages of industrial energy are critical. They should be commissioned between 1988 and 1991. Discussions are in progress on the construction of the first station, which will be built in the south of the country. The Chinese government has reached an agreement with the French government on the purchase of two 920MW power stations at some stage, and on co-operation in nuclear technology. (U.K.)
