AbstractAbstract
[en] Leak dection techniques use processes and equipments evidencing on the low pressure side a test fluid which has been put on the other side of the wall. Helium is generally used as a test fluid in leak detection techniques with a mass spectrometer. Natural helium of air (and even natural neon of air) has been used for tightness verification of uranium hexafluoride enrichment circuits in the Eurodif plant at Tricastin (France)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Technical problems concerning the application of IAEA safeguards to uranium-enrichment facilities are considered. It is shown that effective safeguards can be achieved if facilities with centrifuges have a ''closed'' zone. It is concluded that for safeguards purposes it is advisable to consider the actual amount of 235U in the ''closed'' zone

AbstractAbstract
[en] This patent describes an isotopic separation system for continuously separating the isotopes present in a sample containing a mixture of isotopes of a chemical element in ionic form. It comprises rotatable annulus means, an isotope-containing sample feed source, an eluant source, a pair of annular electrode means, and drain assembly means

AbstractAbstract
[en] The use of lasers for uranium and/or plutonium isotope separation is expected to be the first large-scale application of lasers to bulk materials processing. The nature of the laser isotope separation process provides insight into the type of applications and character of laser systems that are necessary for future large-scale laser-based industrial processes. Applications and rumors of applications of lasers in chemical or material processing are legion. However, the only large-scale application that has thus far received serious investment is isotope separation, especially of the actinides. The unusually high value (>=103 $/kg) of these isotopes when contrasted with bulk chemicals (approximately 1 $/kg) explains the motivation. The efficacy of lasers in a far wider range of applications is not really in doubt, but the economics of laser operation, both capital and operating costs, is a barrier to wider utilization. Of course, unfamiliarity with the technology, viz., safety, trained operators, and maintenance personnel is also a barrier. The author discusses some general requirements for laser applications and reviews some specific accomplishments and the approach taken in the atomic vapor laser isotope separation (AVLIS) program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

[en] The internationalization of the commercial enrichment industry under a unified authority is recommended. This would guarantee fuel supplies to all countries at fair prices, could arrange for equitable compensation of states with existing enrichment capabilities, and could enforce non-proliferation measures. AbstractAbstract
[en] The model of rigid cascade was built up in this paper. The model has two pipe lines, and there is waste orifice plate in each stage of rigid cascade. The parameters influencing effect of rigid cascade are mainly orifice plate size and feed flow. The two factors were analyzed and compared. The calculation results indicate that the product concentration minishes with the increase of feed flow. The influence on waste was obvious. The influence of orifice plate size on the product in cascade is larger than that on waste. When the orifice plate size deviates to the original size, smaller size is chosen. (author)
