Tokamak reactors for breakeven. A critical study of the near-term fusion reactor program. Erice-Trapany (Sicily), 21 September-1 October 1976
AbstractAbstract
[en] The work carried on by the FINTOR (Frascati, Ispra, Napoli, Tokamak Reactor) group has now reached a stage where the effects of the main physics and engineering constraints, for a minimum size Tokamak Experimental Reactor have been clearly identified. This phase, now completed, has allowed to produce a self-consistent design of each basic component of the reactor, FINTOR 1, and to identify the more relevant interface problems toward a further optimisation of the reactor dimensions and characteristics to be performed in the future (FINTOR 2)

[en] Preface Introduction: The Applied Nanotechnology and Nanoscience International Conference is an international meeting organized in a different European country each year. The Chairs Committee and Plenary Speakers change each year in order to enrich the content and provide the participants with different views. After the success of Paris (2015) and Barcelona (2016), the Applied Nanotechnology and Nanoscience International Conference 2017 was held in Rome, on October 18th -20th. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The protection of population and workers from the health risk due to exposure to ionizing radiation emitted from inhaled radon and its decay products requires many different actions and involves many different institutions, both national and local ones. Therefore, in order to optimize the protection, it is necessary to set up a national program to coordinate all the required actions, especially in countries with a federal organization, as it is the case of Italy as regards the health organization. On the basis of these considerations, an Italian National Radon Program was prepared by a commission set up by the Ministry of Health and partly funded by the Italian National Centre for Diseases Prevention and Control, which is the body that coordinates the Ministry of Health with the Regions in the field of monitoring and prevention of diseases. In this paper, a short description of the INRP and of its start-up activities is presented. The first two years of activity have proven that a national program is a useful tool to coordinate and optimize action to protect from health effects due to radon exposure. (author)
