AbstractAbstract
[en] The K--nucleon resonances are disucussed. Then K--nucleus optical potential parameters are deduced from the recent Alston-Garnjost et. al. K--N amplitudes by use of a simple, standard impulse approximation approach. The role of the resonances and of nucleon motion are investigated to see how the various K--N resonances affect the K--nucleus absorption and the associated cross-sections. The absorption induced by the basic K--N resonances is seen to be much larger than for the K+ case, but not as large or dramatically energy-dependent as for pions. Nucleon motion is found to be very significant especially near the narrow resonances. Illustrative results are presented which demonstrate that close scrutiny, theoretically and experimentally, will be required to reliably extract information about Y*-dynamics. (auth)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have compared various models of the K- optical potential and tested them in fits to the available K- atomic data. The quality of the fits is satisfactory for the both relatively 'shallow' optical potentials derived from chirally motivated models and for the 'deep' potentials based on phenomenological analyses. We show that (Kstop-,τ) hypernuclear production rates are very sensitive to the details of the kaonic bound state wave function. The reaction is thus suitable to distinguish between K- optical potentials

AbstractAbstract
[en] Radiative capture of the K- on the deuteron is examined as a reaction for the measurement of the Λ-neutron scattering lengths. It is shown that a measurement of the deviation of the vector deuteron polarization asymmetry from -1 provides a direct determination of the difference of the singlet and triplet scattering lengths. AbstractAbstract
[en] A description of the techniques used in FINUDA to perform, by means of global fits, the analysis of some YN (hyperon-nucleon) spectra is reported. The study of the features of many experimental spectra and how they can be decomposed by contributions of Quasi-Free (QF) background reactions is a fundamental issue to achieve a good and reliable description of the K"−2N→YN absorptions

AbstractAbstract
[en] This experiment has been performed at the CERN PS using a beam of negative kaons with momenta from 1.2 to 2.2 GeV/c incident on a liquid deuterium target. By means of an elctronic apparatus the process K-d→K-np(spectator) was identified and recorded; this process is basically the same as the K-n elastic reaction insofar as the spectator proton has low momentum. The elastic reaction was derived from the above process by taking into account the Fermi motion of the target neutron and by introducing the appropriate corrections to compensate for the effects due to the composite nature of the deuteron. These results, constituting the first extensive collection of data on the pure isospin 1 anti-K N state, have been used in conjonction with other data in a preliminary partial wave analysis of the anti-K N elastic system over the c.m. energy range from 1.84 to 2.23 GeV. Mainly for testing purposes, a similar amount of data has been collected for the K-p elastic reaction also from K-d collisions (K-d→K-pn(spectator))
[fr]

AbstractAbstract
[en] Λ(1405) is considered as a superposition of two resonances instead of a simple bound state of the kaon and proton. Within the framework of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock(BHF) theory, we have investigated the K-bar nuclear systems (S=-1), especially K-pp and K-pnn(T=1). The binding energy BK- is 23 MeV (3 MeV) and the width Γ is 62 MeV (56 MeV) for K-pp(K-pnn(T= 1)). (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Unlike radiative pion capture, radiative kaon capture is an almost unexplored field. The importance of this work arises from its potential contribution to our understanding of low-energy K-n and Λ-N scattering parameters. A measurement of the reactions K anti p → Λ γ and Σγ is proposed. A novel technique of final-state identification is employed that in principle allows for the detection of the Dalitz pair process as well. The importance of beams with high purity and flux is discussed along with count-rate estimates
