AbstractAbstract
[en] Adopting a procedure previously proposed to quantitatively study pion interferometry 1 , an equivalent 2-D X2 analysis was performed to test the resolving power of that method when applied to less favorable conditions, when no significant contribution from long lived resonances is expected, as in kaon interferometry. For that purpose, use is made of the preliminary E859 K+K+ interferometry data from Si+Au collisions at 14.6 A GeV/c. Less sensitivity is achieved in the present case, although it is shown that it is still possible to distinguish two distinct decoupling geometries. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Out of about 16,000 stars found by an area scan of 1.8 GeV/c K--meson interactions with emulsion nuclei, 120 'hammer tracks' have been collected. The corrected production rate is (1.30 +- 0.12)%. The forward to backward ratio indicates isotropic emission of 8Li fragments. The emission of short recoils at the primary vertex shows a definite correlation with the 8Li fragments. (orig.)

(orig.)Primary Subject

AbstractAbstract
[en] A proposed 1-2 GeV/c kaon beam line for BNL, designed to deliver momentum analyzed negative kaon beams with intensities above 106 per spill, is discussed. The beam intensity is expected to be about an order of magnitude greater than presently available and it is expected to be a clean beam with no more than 1:1 (π-,μ-,e-)/K-. The beam line will allow a detailed investigation of strangeness -2 systems as well as continued investigations of strangeness -1 systems

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new kaon facility is being planned at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Alternate Gradient Synchrotron. This paper discusses experiments in hypernuclear physics that might be performed at such a facility. Recent results from the Brookhaven hypernuclear spectrometer and elsewhere are presented as an indication of future directions in hypernuclear physics research. Expectations for the performance of the new facility are outlined. (auth)

AbstractAbstract
[en] It has been proposed that, in addition to the conventional P wave q anti-q nonet of 0++ mesons, there should be a second 0++ nonet composed of qq anti-q anti-q states nearby in mass. This nonet contains the lightest multiquark states and is therefore particularly suitable for experimental investigation. The status of 0++ mesons in the light of this proposal is reviewed. (authors)
