AbstractAbstract
[en] Nanotechnology will be an increasing part of the everyday lives of most people in the world. There is a general recognition that few people understand the implications of the technology, the technology itself or even the definition of the word. This lack of understanding stems from a lack of knowledge about science in general but more specifically difficulty in grasping the size scale and symbolism of nanotechnology. A potential key to informing the general public is establishing the ability to comprehend the scale of nanotechnology. Transitioning from the macro to the nanoscale seems to require an ability to comprehend scales of one-billion. Scaling is a skill not common in most individuals and tests of their ability to extrapolate size based upon scaling a common object demonstrates that most individuals cannot scale to the extent needed to make the transition to nanoscale. Symbolism is another important vehicle to providing the general public with a basis to understand the concepts of nanotechnology. With increasing age, individuals are able to draw representations of atomic scale objects, but these tend to be iconic and the different representations not easily translated. Ball and stick models are most recognized by the public, which provides an opportunity to present not only useful symbolism but also a reference point for the atomic scale.

[en] Pressure Injectors are used routinely in diagnostic and interventional radiology. Advances in medical science and technology have made it is imperative for both diagnostic as well as interventional radiologists to have a thorough understanding of the various aspects of pressure injectors. Further, as many radiologists may not be fully conversant with injections into ports, central lines and PICCs, it is important to familiarize oneself with the same. It is also important to follow stringent operating protocols during the use of pressure injectors to prevent complications such as contrast extravastion, sepsis and air embolism. This article aims to update existing knowledge base in this respect

[en] The essence of successful implementation of BIM in practice is knowledge about objects, their behaviour and other properties with higher overlap and throughout the life cycle of the building. In addition, other structurally and unstructured knowledge (historical experience, needs and requirements of users, investors, the need to perform revisions to some objects, etc.) is added to this. Taking all of these attributes into a building lifecycle management system requires the creation of both a knowledge management and knowledge management system and a time management system. Learning creates knowledge and “knowledge organization” is an organization that uses knowledge to develop and achieve (long-term) goals. In general, there is no guaranteed procedure, no universal set of tools to help build a knowledge-based organization. If knowledge creation is to be used to better achieve results, it should not be separated from other activities of the organization. Knowledge Management represents the establishment and subsequent managing special network structure that includes all existing knowledge units. Knowledge management is often perceived as a survivor of the company today, but managers often do not realize that it is a much more complex process than generating large tables in Excel for comprehensive reporting to senior management and owners. Well-organized Knowledge Management can create concepts of knowledge, review and consolidate them, prepare action plans to create, secure, combine and coordinate knowledge, as well as set up clear ways to extract them from knowledge bases at the time of need and hunger for quality. AbstractAbstract
[en] The RDF(S) model has been declared as the basic model to capture knowledge of the semantic web. It provides a common and flexible way to decompose composed knowledge to elementary statements, which can be represented by RDF triples or by RDF graph vectors. From the logical point of view, elements of knowledge can be expressed using at most binary predicates, which can be converted to RDF-triples or graph vectors. However, it is not able to capture implicit knowledge representable by logical formulas. This contribution shows how existing approaches (semantic networks and clausal form logic) can be combined together with RDF to obtain RDF-compatible system with ability to represent implicit knowledge and inference over knowledge base.

[en] The oil sands and heavy oil technologies conference and exhibition was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, from June 19th to June 21st, 2011. This conference, entitled Every Drop Counts and organized by Pennwell, gathered experts to discuss technologies for the production, processing and environmental remediation of heavy oil. The conference was attended by key players of the heavy oil industry, such as oil and gas operators, field supervisors, project managers, engineers and power plant designers, and provided them with the opportunity to learn about some of the latest technologies, hear about innovations which improve the environmental performance of petroleum operations and network with their peers and share their expertise. All 52 papers presented during this conference have been catalogued separately for inclusion in this database
