[en] Highlights: • Reduced Order Methods (ROM) for neutronics applications. • Different methods tested in order to assess the efficiency of the reduced order model. • Adjoint Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (APOD) proposed for combining POD and the use of the adjoint flux. • Analysis of the different methods in reproducing reactivity insertion due to temperature or CR change. • APOD shows better results in terms of accuracy with a reasonable computational time. - Abstract: This paper deals with the use of Reduced Order Methods for neutronics modelling. This approach is used whether both accuracy and computational efficiency are required. A very popular category of these methods is based on projection approaches which use spatial basis and test functions for the development of the reduced order model. The selection of the spatial basis and test functions used in the projection phase is a crucial issue since it has an impact on the accuracy and the computational cost. In this work, different methods for the creation of the spatial basis and the test functions are analysed. In particular, an Adjoint Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (APOD) method is proposed combining the properties of the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition and the use of the adjoint flux as test function in the neutronics framework. The different methods are applied to create a spatial neutronics model for the ALFRED reactor. The simulation results show that the APOD method gives better results compared to the other methods (Modal Method and standard Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) increasing the accuracy of the reduced order model or minimizing the computational cost.
[en] In Belgium, the research center SCK•CEN is planning to build a lead alloy-cooled fast reactor as part of an ADS facility. And whilst the Belgian Regulator - FANC, has experience with the licensing and control of PWRs, it had no experience with such an innovative reactor. For this reason, a prelicensing project was launched. The scope, the methodology and the goal of this prelicensing project is presented from the point of view of the regulator. (author)
[en] pSSC main activities: • LFR System Safety Assessment (SSA): SSA was thoroughly revised taking into account comments received from RSWG The updated clean version has been sent to EG by RSWG on March 7, 2019. • LFR Safety Design Criteria (SDC): SDC were thoroughly revised following comments received from RSWG Document was also updated following the IAEA SSR 2/1 (rev. 1) version (2016) Updated version is expected to be transmitted to RSWG before summer. • LFR Safety Design Guidelines (SDG): LFRSDG will be developed after SDC finalization. • Contribution to the 2018 update of the GIF R&D Outlook Report. • White Paper on the LFR PRPP aspects is currently being updated. • LFR pSSC active in the GIF Task Force on Research Infrastructures.
[en] Application of force feedback data glove allows workers to operate virtual objects directly, for simulating the work process of high dangerous radiation environment, which provides a new solution to improve the training effect of repair personnel of nuclear facilities. According to the current application situation of virtual simulation technology operation training in domestic nuclear facilities repair, as well as the needs of replacement simulation of the target for liquid lead cooled reactor, modeling and control of virtual hand, collision detection between virtual hand and virtual objects based on force feedback data glove were studied. Force feedback data glove has been used to control the virtual roaming and replacement interactive operation simulation of the target. The experimental results show the effectiveness and practicability of the virtual model. (authors)
[en] The computer model for the economic assessment of Proryv Project (REM) is designed for supporting managerial decision-making during analyze of building pilot demonstration energy complex with the BREST-OD-300 fast reactor facility. The targets of REM are noted, analytical information structure, properties, capabilities, software system structure are described, functional opportunities are demonstrated. The examples of calculations of technical and economic indicators of Proryv project are illustrated. (author)
