AbstractAbstract
[en] The crystal structure of rutile-type magnesium deuteride, α-MgD2, has been studied by in situ neutron powder diffraction at room temperature and pressures up to 9.3 GPa. The bulk modulus B0 = 49(2) GPa is about half, the linear compressibilities (0.0063/GPa along a and 0.0041/GPa along c) are about twice and the variation of the free positional parameter x about six times the values for the isostructural magnesium fluoride, indicating the strong polarizability of the deuteride anion. Under pressure the MgD6 octahedra are more compressed (four Mg-D distances at 199(1), two at 173(1) pm) than at ambient pressure (195.1(1), 194.8(2) pm) and the structural arrangement becomes more CaCl2 like, although no structural phase transition has been observed. AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper presents dosimetric characteristics of special graphite-mixed magnesium borate thermoluminescent dosimeter for beta-ray dosimetry, developed at Boris Kidric Institute Vinca. Sintered graphite-mixed MgB407: Dy, C Tl dosimeters are attractive for beta-ray dosimetry because this material combines low transparency with near tissue-equivalence and high sensitivity. Released skin-dose equivalent sintered magnesium borate TL-dosimeters give the possibility for skin dose assessment from low-energy beta emitters which is required by ICRP recommendations. It is also given the results from practical use of graphite mixed magnesium borate TLD a various laboratories at Risoe National Laboratory, Roskilde, Denmark. (Author)

[en] The products MgB6O10x8H2O, CaB4O7x6H2O of the interaction of systems H3BO3-Ca(CH3CH2COO)2-H2O and H3BO3-Mg(CH3CH2COO)2-H2O separated at 50 deg C, are studied using the methods of DTA and IR spectroscopy. The results of thermal decomposition and IR absorption spectra confirm their individuality. A supposition is made on the structure of the compounds prepared

AbstractAbstract
[en] Magnesium hydroxyapatite coatings (MgHAp) were deposited on the surface of 316L stainless steel (316L SS) substrates by electrodeposition technique. Different concentrations of Mg''2''+ ion were incorporated into the apatite structure by adding Mg(NO3)2 into electrolyte solution containing 3x10''-''2 M Ca(NO3)2, 1.8x10''-''2 M NH4H2PO4 and 6x10''-''2 M NaNO3. With Mg''2''+ concentration 1x10''-''3 M, the obtained coatings have 0.2 wt% Mg''2''+. The influences of scanning potential ranges, scanning times to deposit MgHAp coatings were researched. The analytical results FTIR, SEM, X-ray, EDX, thickness and adhension strength showed that MgHAp coatings were single phase of HAp, fibrous shapes, thickness 8.1 μm and adhesion strength 7.20 MPa at the scanning potential ranges of 0 ∕ -1.7 V/SCE and scanning times of 5 scans. AbstractAbstract
[en] MgB4O7:Dy is usually reported as having one dosimetric peak. Two sets of experimental studies followed by computer analysis of more than 200 glow curves indicate that a combination of at least 11 peaks of first order kinetics is necessary to describe the glow behaviour of MgB4O7:Dy. For a heating rate of 1oC.s-1, the maximum intensity of the individual peaks are situated at the following temperatures: 101, 110, 126, 142, 155, 160, 173, 192, 224, 231 and 304oC. (author)
