[en] In this paper, the possibilities for the storage of positrons are studied. Three experiments have been performed: 1) The storage of positrons coming from a fixed Co58-source placed out of the storage volume of a magnetic bottle. 2) The storage of positrons coming from Rb-ions, stored in a penning trap. The detection of the storage efficiency should be performed by resonance of the positrons in an external resonance circuit. 3) The storage of positrons coming from Rb-ions stored in a penning trap. For detection of positrons possibly stored, these are pushed out of the trap on a scintillator crystal, and the annihilation photons are displayed as a function of time. (orig.)

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollten Moeglichkeiten der Speicherung von Positronen untersucht werden. Hierzu wurden drei Versuche durchgefuehrt: 1) Die Speicherung von Positronen aus einer festen Co58-Quelle ausserhalb des Speichervolumens einer magnetischen Flasche. 2) Die Speicherung von Positronen aus ebenfalls gespeicherten Rb-Ionen im Penningkaefig. Der Nachweis der Speicherung sollte durch Resonanz der Positronen mit einem aeusseren Schwingkreis geschehen. 3) Die Speicherung von Positronen aus ebenfalls gespeicherten Rb-Ionen im Penningkaefig. Zum Nachweis eventuell gespeicherter Positronen wurden diese aus dem Kaefig auf einen Szintillatorkristall gedrueckt und die Vernichtungsquanten in Abhaengigkeit der Zeit nachgewiesen. [en] A brief survey of some 'alternative' mirror concepts: rotating plasma devices, cusps with electrostatic plugs, and multimirror systems is given. The place of these concepts in a general programme of mirror research is discussed and some recent experimental and theoretical results are presented. AbstractAbstract
[en] Electromagnetic trap for hot plasma production and confinement is described. The trap contains locking electrodes and even amount of conductors distributed equally along generants of two cylindrical surfaces, being coaxial to the trap. Neighbouring conductors situated on different surfaces are displaced, in respect to each other, by the same angle. The belt collectors, placed just beyond the conductors, close to the trap axis, are introduced into the trap to increase mean plasma energy inside the trap by means of slow electrons removal out of the trap. Distances between collector edges and trap axis are found from the Shtermer magnetic surface equation

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experiments with alkali plasma are conducted to prove the theory on the possibility of an essential increase in the plasma confinement time in a multimirror magnetic field. The total number of mirror devices in the experiments N=14. A single mirror device is 16 cm long, the vacuum chamber diameter is 6 cm, the working vacuum is 10-6 tor. The maximum magnetic field in the case of multimirror configuration is 5400 Oe, the mirror ratio is 1.83. The plasma has been produced with surface ionization of cesium neutral atoms on a tantalum surface. Dynamics of the plasma stationary flow formation is described. Stationary distribution of plasma density in multimirror configuration is shown. Relaxation of the ion distribution function and multimirror effects in a weakly crimping magnetic field are investigated. It is shown that relaxation does not practically affect plasma concentration drop along the device. A GOL-1 facility intended for investigation of multimirror confinement of hydrogeneous plasma at a temperature of 100 eV and density of 1015 cm-3 is described

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper examines some possible areas for the study of new approaches to fusion research, ones that employ magnetic confinement systems based on open-ended field topology and employing the magnetic mirror principle. In the spirit of encouraging a wider look at possibilities, some unconventional approaches are suggested. These approaches, involving long linear systems having ion injectors and direct converters at their ends, attempt to exploit some inherent advantages of open-ended systems for fusion. The results of analysis, calculations and preliminary cost estimates for long linear systems of this type that utilize the magnetic mirror effect to achieve their operating regimes will be presented. The approaches suggested, when examined in greater depth, may not stand the test of time, but they might encourage thinking in new areas
