AbstractAbstract
[en] Ore microscopy can be an important adjunct to beneficiation, because it can be used not only to predict mill problems of undeveloped ore deposits but to identify the causes for the loss of minerals in the products of operating mines and mills. Mineral distribution among various mill products can be determined by examining polished sections prepared from samples obtained from each step of the beneficiation process. The degree of liberation of each mineral can be quantitatively determined for each mill product by counting locked vs. free particles. For many beneficiation problems, the preparation of a few polished sections of carefully selected mill products can yield useful information, which the mill dressing engineer can effectively use to alleviate those problems

[en] Process for recovering at least one metallic element selected from within the group composed of uranium, molybdenum, vanadium, copper, selenium and germanium contained in kerogeniferous ores. In particular, it relates to a process for the more complete recovery of the uranium contained in certain sedimentary ores. It involves: - grinding the ore down to the mesh that will release the kerogen particles, - separating the kerogen from the carrying ores by flotation, - modifying the kerogen by heating, - processing the residue for extraction of the elements it contains

[en] The present investigation aims, at a higher detail level, to identify, from systematic studies, the most important variables of the column flotation and also to check continuous flotation circuits ntegrating columns and mechanical cells to process the -10μm + 3μm fraction from the Itataia ore. The results obtained with the use of only one column as the rougher stage of direct flotation demonstrated a good selectivity, leading to P2O5 and R2O3 (Fe2O3 + Al2O3) grade of 24.2 % and 2.79 %, respectively, with p2O5 recovery of 68.5 %. The results of this investigation indicate that the combination of the column concentrate with that of the conventional flotation circuit increases the overall recovery of P2O5 an U3O5 in 5%, in the physical concentration, without impairing the utilization of the final concentrate. O trabalho aqui apresentado visou, com maior nivel de detalhe, identificar as variaveis mais sensiveis do processo de flotacao em coluna, a partir de estudos sistematicos, e testar circuitos continuos de flotacao integrando celulas de coluna e mecanica, utilizando a fracao - 10μm + 3μm do minerio de Itataia. Os resultados obtidos, utilizando-se apenas uma coluna como etapa 'rougher' da flotacao direta, demonstraram a sua grande seletividade, permitindo a obtencao de concentrados com teores de 24,2% de P2O5 e 2,79% de R2P3 (Fe2O3 + Al2O3) com recuperacao de P2O5 de 68,5%. Pode-se inferir que a composicao do concentrado da coluna com o do circuito convencional conduz a um aumento de 5% na recuperacao global de P2O5 e U3O8 da etapa de beneficiamento fisico, sem comprometer a qualidade do concentrado final.
