AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper describes the characteristics of a simulation system to study the dynamic behaviour of operating system software in detail. The use of the system which appears to the application programmer like a virtual PL/I-machine will be illustrated by an example. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A photon shielding code based on the point-kernel method has been developed. The code, entitled PUTZ, allows the specification of three-dimensional source and body geometries using simple parallelepipeds and annular parallelepipeds, and permits the inclusion of multiple sources and multiple detectors in a single case. A flexible free-form type input format is used, and attenuation data and material buildup factors are contained within the code for selected materials. Versions of the code are available for running on an IBM mainframe computer and an IBM-PC microcomputer (or compatible). A comprehensive user's manual is provided, which describes the basic algorithms, input requirements, output listings, and major limitations

AbstractAbstract
[en] PRO/Mapper is an application for the Digital Equipment Corporation PRO/300 series of personal computers that facilitates the preparation of visuals such as graphs, charts, and maps in color or black and white. The user prepares an input data file containing English-language commands and writes it into a file using standard editor. PRO/Mapper then reads these files and draws graphs, maps, boxes, and complex line segments onto the computer screen. Axes, curves, and error bars may be plotted in graphical presentations. The commands of PRO/Mapper are a subset of the commands of the more sophisticated MAPPER program written for mainframe computers. The PRO/Mapper commands were chosen primarily for the production of linear graphs. Command files written for the PRO/300 are upward compatible with the Martin Marietta Energy Systems version of MAPPER and can be used to produce publication-quality slides, drawings, and maps on the various output devices of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory mainframe computers

AbstractAbstract
[en] Some shortcomings in a previous package, namely, no facility for polar plots, difficulties encountered when the data went outside the subject space and the absence of a dotdashed line facility caused problems in implementing the package on a computer. Using CalComp routines a polar plotting routine is developed. Improvements in the previous package for plotting linear-linear, log-linear and log-log graphs and histograms are also included. The only restriction on the improved and extended package is the number of theoretical and experimental points to be plotted. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new version of print program for the mathematician's error diagnosing in the dispatcher of the ''Dubna'' operation system is described. The shortcomings of the old program and the advantages of the new one are discussed. In the new version of the program the volume of diagnostic information is extended which allows to list the content of the arithmetic device conditions register, of the lower positions register and of the adder. The listing of the registers content takes place at the moment of error diagnosis in the program making it possible to determine the exact address of the place where the error occured

AbstractAbstract
[en] A two-electron temperature plasma flowing from a source to an exposed surface is studied analytically and with a simulation code. The collector floating potential is continuously decreasing with the increasing hot to cold electron temperature ratio. It is also found that at the hot to cold electron temperature ratio which is greater than 15 and in a certain range of their density ratio three simultaneous solutions exist for the source sheath potential drop. Outside this range it has either a small value determined by cold electrons or a large value determined by hot electrons. It is shown by particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations that a potential structure with a double layer is formed in the plasma in the former cases. The numerical results of the analytical and simulation study are compared and good agreement is found. (author)
