AbstractAbstract
[en] The Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria operates a Karman A 710 Neutron-Generator which has a five curie (5Ci) target. People working in the Neutron Generator environment may sometime be accidentally exposed to high doses of radiation due to tritium. To this end users of the Neutron Generator at the Centre for Energy Research and Training A.B.U have been monitored by measuring the tritium levels in their urine using liquid scintillation counter LSC2 NE Technology and SR8 Scaler rate-meter NE Technology. The results obtained did not vary much from the background levels. This may suggest that the users had little or no exposure to tritium

AbstractAbstract
[en] At present a National Dose Data Bank maintained by ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Environment) collects information on 50,000 Italian workers exposed to external ionising radiation. In this paper Italian regulatory aspects about dose record keeping are outlined briefly. Results are presented of an analysis that compares doses of all the monitored workers in the Data Bank with those of a small sample of workers whose data are specifically validated by Health Physicists. The differences in the two dose distributions are analysed and interpreted in the light of radiation protection practice and regulatory applications enforced in Italy. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The wide application of ionizing radiation in different spheres of national economy leads to a rapid increase of the number of people professionally subjected to the effect of ionizing radiation. The persons working in ionizing rays environment in this country are at present 0,25 % of the whole population. The paper presents the main tasks in carrying out the dispensary observation of that contingent. The necessity is pointed out to read the specific and non-specific factors of the working environment. Reasons are pointed out giving grounds to estimate the present condition of dispensary observation, and some new aspects to increase its efficiency are discussed in prospect. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The monitor has only two detector columns at an angle to one another and possibly divided in height, whose detectors are divided in the vertical direction in a middle range depending on a reference shape. The units formed by the subdivision equal the effect produced by the subdivision in approximation to the reference shape in evaluation. By including the detector columns divided into several detectors in height, a detector of about half the width is produced at a level above the threshold. Underarm boxes are provided at the outer edge of this detector, which are directed obliquely upwards. (orig./HP)

(orig./HP)Original Title
