AbstractAbstract
[en] By extending the concept of equipartition, it is possible to derive a nonquantum version of Planck's radiation law, without ad hoc assumptions of zero point, zero temperature random radiation which violates classical thermodynamical principles. The meaning of the Planck constant is discussed together with the quantum hypothesis, and applied to the photoelectric effect. A coarse-averaged description, which may be refined to any order is employed throughout

[en] Photoelectric observations of the close binary system XY Cep are presented and analyzed. The epochs of minimum are derived from observations. A decrease of the period has been proved and causes explaining this phenomena are given. (author). 2 figs., 2 tabs., 31 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Photon and electron irradiation effects in cables and connectors of ionization chambers were investigated under different experimental conditions by means of measurements of the chamber sensitivity to a 90Sr standard check source and radiation induced leakage current. Correction factors for irradiation effects on cables and connectors were obtained, as a function of the radiation energy, cable length and exposure rate dependences. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A teaching module, centered on the photoelectric effect and the Franck-Hertz experiment, was designed for upper secondary school students. The activities have been built upon three design principles, brought out from an analysis of the current research literature about laboratories, learning/teaching quantum physics and representations in physics education. AbstractAbstract
[en] A simple relation between the total photoeffect cross section of an element and the total attenuation cross section of its compound has been derived. Total attenuation cross sections of some 15 simple compounds have been measured by performing transmission experiments in a good geometry set up. Using these values and with the aid of the present relation, total photoeffect cross sections of elements of Z>=47 at 514.0, 661.6, 1115.5, 1173.2 and 1332.5 keV gamma ray energies have been determined and compared with Scofield's theoretical cross sections.
