AbstractAbstract
[en] Elastic polarization near the backward direction is considered for the π+p case. Included are some sample data, various theories in confrontation with data, resonances, an interpretation of the experimental structures, and the importance of backward polarization and reasons for the continuation of measurements. There are three references

AbstractAbstract
[en] The mechanisms of pion production in the reaction π+p → π+π+n are studied using a theory with broken chiral symmetry. The parameter ξ = -0.11 ± 0.11. It is shown that the contribution of the Δ-isobar mechanism must be taken into account even for energies close to the threshold of this reaction. 9 refs., 5 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The π+ proton interaction leading to two charged outgoing particles have been studied at the incident momentum of 3.2 and 3.5 GeV/c. The picture were obtained from an exposure of the Brookhaven Notional Laboratory 20 - inch bubble chamber. For the two energies, we have identified: 1741 events of the reaction π+ + p → π+ + p +π0, 1100 events of the reaction π+ + p → π+ + π+ + n and 4079 events of the reaction π+ + p → π+ + p. We present here a study of the exchange mechanism in the N*33 production. The resonances Ni*1/2(1688), ρ, η, ω and A1, A2 are observed and discussed. Other results, the elastic interaction and various cross sections are also presented. (author)

(auteur)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The polarization parameter P in the elastic π+p scattering has been measured at 510, 530, 560, and 580 MeV for the angles cos theta(<0. The absolute measurement error is ΔProughly-equal +- 0.1. The obtained results were used to verify the isotopic-spin ratios

AbstractAbstract
[en] Recent measurements of spin-rotation parameters in elastic π+p scattering are in marked disagreement with predictions of the Carnegie-Mellon-Berkeley and Karlsruhe-Helsinki analyses. Using the method of Barrelet, we show how this discrepancy can be removed. We then show how this Barrelet transformation alters the partial-wave amplitudes. The effect of unitarity and analyticity constraints is also considered. copyright 1997 The American Physical Society

AbstractAbstract
[en] The recombination model for low-pT inclusive reactions is extended to the meson fragmentation region. Some basic issues in the model are reexamined, and the differences between the proton and pion initiated reactions are stressed. By applying the model to the π+p → K+X reaction, the fast valence quark distribution in the pion is extracted. For large x a best fit is given. (orig./WL)

(orig./WL)Primary Subject
