AbstractAbstract
[en] The pipe is characterized by an external sleeve and welding lip directed towards the end to be welded. The lip is situated at a sufficient distance from the end for cutting the pipe between the lip and the end, avoiding the cleaning of a contaminated pipe. Application is made to pipe carrying radioactive fluids for instance liquid sodium

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes examples of the damage resulting from the impact of a whipping pipe on a nearby pressurised pipe. The work is a by-product of a study of the motion of a whipping pipe. The tests were conducted with small-diameter pipes mounted in rigid supports and hence the results are not directly applicable to large-scale plant applications where flexible support mountings are employed. The results illustrate the influence of whipping pipe energy, impact position and support type on the damage sustained by the target pipe. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Object: To reduce a surrounding radioactive atmosphere by restricting local storage of radioactive matter with the provision of a rinsing duct for issuing rinsing liquid in an annular space defined between a thermal sleeve and a nozzle and open to the reactor side. Structure: A nozzle and a duct within the reactor are connected together via a thermal sleeve, and a rinsing duct for issuing rinsing liquid is provided within an annular space formed between a thermal sleeve and a nozzle. AbstractAbstract
[en] The crossing pipes are fixed in openings crossing the round wall. A pipe end which is salient against the wall convex surface is watertight closed, and a wall carrying an electron gun is watertight fixed on the rounded wall, in order to delimit a watertight chamber. A reduced pressure is imposed inside this chamber and the electron beam is trained on a generating line of the junction zone of a crossing tube with a crossing opening of the rounded wall. The junction zone is swept with an electron beam rotating the electron gun around the crossing tube axis. The invention can be applied particularly to the welding of tank cover crossing adapters of a water pressure nuclear reactor. (Author). 6 figs., 7 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper discusses the mode of action of different systems of expansion joints. Special regard is given to the problems of expansion of pipelines of high rated diameter as employed in today's large power plant turbines. Due to the limited space available, the important role of the spring rate of the bellows for the reaction forces and moments acting on the connection points is pointed out. Apart from this details are given on the fabrication and materials selection of expansion joint bellows, and problems are discussed which arise in connection with the mechanical or hydraulic deformation of bellows with one or more walls. The non-destructive methods now in use for the testing of expansion pipe joints are mentioned along with experiments to test their behaviour under changing loads. The paper concludes on some remarks concerning proper transport, storage and installation of expansion pipe joints. (orig./AK)

(orig.)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] ''Blue sky'' erection method of piping units was applied to the construction of nuclear power plant in a full scale. It was impossible to construct the proposed plant as scheduled by the conventional method of which pipe fitting work was carried out following to the completion of machinery building. This new pipe fitting method is mainly based on the prefabrication of piping units at unit assembly shop and the prefabricated piping units are installed in the half constructed rooms of the building with ''Blue sky'' stage, namely before ceilings. This method brought about three month s reduction of construction period, improvement of quality and working conditions at the site and also total cost reduction. New problems occured and the countermeasures were taken at the practical stage, that is introduced here as our experience through planning, production and fitting work. The theory and practice of this new method are well applicable not only for nuclear power plants but also for many other industrial plants. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A testing procedure, targeted to promote that an industrial standard component can be used in a nuclear particular application, is designed and applied. Namely, a mechanical standard junction component, that is widely recognized for its industrial reliability, is commonly used to fit two stainless steel tubes, is intended to be used in a particular nuclear application fitting a stainless steel tube to a Zircaloy-4 tube counterpart. The junction will be subjected to pressure and temperature typical of primary circuit coolant in a nuclear power plant. The results found once the test was applied (catastrophic fault and significant water leakage absence) allow to advice using this mechanical junction device as a valid nuclear design option fitting the proposed tubes.
