[en] A system accepting truely descriptive knowledge should receive (on build) meta-knowledge for using knowledge. The EUM system, in development, described in this paper, accepts such a knowledge. On the bottom level, it is a programming language (or a virtual machine) designed to be able to self-improve by introspection. Upper levels use meta-knowledge. EUM can access all objects its uses, it executes orders by using explicit methods. These can be meta-expertises. Hence, EUM can reason about its own operation, and cleverly use its knowledge and methods. Interaction with user is done by orders; thus it can be expertly driven. The initial inference engine is made of modules which can be replaced or completed by meta-expertises, of which some partial examples are given. Hence, it is possible to extend the knowledge langage, and the inference mechanism, by meta-expertises. In the same way, knowledge bases can be expertly compiled into orders

Un systeme acceptant des connaissances reellement declaratives doit recevoir (ou synthetiser) des meta-connaissances pour utiliser ces connaissances. Le systeme EUM, en cours de developpement, decrit dans cet article, accepte de telles connaissances. Au niveau le plus bas, c'est un langage de programmation (ou une machine virtuelle) concu pour pouvoir s'ameliorer par l'introspection. Les niveaux superieurs utilisent des meta-connaissances. EUM peut acceder a tous les objets qu'il utilise, il execute des ordres en utilisant des methodes explicites. Ces methodes peuvent etre des meta-expertises. EUM peut donc raisonner sur son fonctionnement, et utiliser intelligemment ses connaissances et ses methodes. L'interaction avec l'utilisateur se fait par des ordres; elle peut donc s'effectuer intelligemment. Le moteur d'inference initial est decoupe en modules pouvant etre remplaces ou completes par des meta-expertises, dont on donne quelques exemples partiels. Il est donc possible d'etendre le langage des connaissances, ainsi que le mecanisme d'inference, par des meta-expertises.
