AbstractAbstract
[en] Summary: Widening Audiences: Every year the age spread of users increases. Usability improvements make social media more inclusive. Video and voice will bring in the very old, very young and less literate. Your reach is getting deeper and broader. There will be more need for targeting. Recommend: It's less and less appropriate to post the same things on every channel. Think about focusing platform content more to user personas. It might be worth making small experiments with paid targeting

AbstractAbstract
[en] Researchers are faced with challenges when addressing the public on concepts and applications associated with nanotechnology. The goal of our work was to understand the public's knowledge of nanotechnology in order to identify appropriate starting points for dialog. Survey results showed that people lack true understanding of concepts associated with atoms and the size of the nanoscale regime. Such gaps in understanding lead to a disappointing lack of communication between researchers and the public concerning fundamental concepts in nanoscale science and engineering. Strategies are offered on how scientists should present their research when engaging the public on nanotechnology topics

AbstractAbstract
[en] The traditional pedagogical paradigm in physics is based on a deductive approach. However, with the recent advances in information technology, we are facing a dramatic increase in the amount of readily available information. We propose that incorporating inductive elements in teaching—by infusing qualitative methods—will better prepare us to deal with the new information landscape and the realities of active research. We also presentexamples from quantum mechanics, a traditionally unintuitive subject. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] 'Crisis communication' refers one of the activities done by the Nuclear Regulatory Organizations (NROs) in order to protect the public and the environment from the possible harmful effects. As denoted by the BMU, German NRO, crisis communication is not only 'public information' or 'information for the public', but also communication between authorities in order to guarantee that public information is consistent. This study proposes some recommendable practices for developing a guideline of well-prepared nuclear crisis communication system, including its management framework, and for introducing good insights, based on the study of international aspects provided by relevant OECD/NEA WPGC (Working Group on Public Communication for Nuclear Regulatory Organizations)i working group

AbstractAbstract
[en] Advertising is a tool to counter balance negative media coverage. it can convey a message that will increase the understanding by the Canadian public. The advertising should be of a broad general nature to provide information, not to advocate nuclear energy. the objective of advertising is to establish credibility and trust; to establish acceptance and confidence in the products and people of the nuclear industry; and to increase the level of support for the nuclear industry. The target of the advertising are men and women of Canada, with focus on the opinion leaders. The strategies for advertising are to develop an on-going dialogue with the Canadian Public; to familiarize the Canadian Public with specific applications of nuclear energy; to present the facts on nuclear energy; and to monitor the results to maintain and improve on-going dialogue with the Canadian Public
