AbstractAbstract
[en] Application of radioactive isotope in non-ferrous metallurgy is done keeping definite limiting conditions. These conditions are: ensuring necessary radiation protection; conducting investigations without interfering into the production process; use of a marking system by means of isotopes. The conditions having been listed demand to use mainly short-living nuclides, and with all this, for marking solid state bodies, mainly, activation technique, is used. In this case, by means of determination of the integral of pulsed beams plane, it is possible to obtain data reflecting matter's distribution and its balance. Application of the isotopic dilution method permits to carry out measurements in the multitonnage quantity. Error of determination, in the first instance, depends on accuracy of the initial activity determination. Because the magnitude of activity lays in the Ci scale, it is necessary to minimize volume of manipulations and, in this connection, some problems in selection of suitable aliquates appear. On the base of the experience gained, it is reported about the problems having been arised and about possible sources of errors

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study has been made of the possibility of applying computer techniques to the resolution of data from the complex gamma-ray spectra obtained in non-destructive activation analysis. The primary objective has been to use computer data-handling techniques to allow the existing analytical method to be used for rapid, routine, sensitive and economical elemental analyses. The necessary conditions for the satisfactory application of automated activation analysis have been evaluated and a computer programme has been completed which will process the data from samples containing a large number of different elements. To illustrate the speed of the handling sequence, the data from a sample containing four component elements can be processed in a matter of minutes, with the speed of processing limited primarily by the speed of the output printer. (author)[ru]

AbstractAbstract
[en] The first available results are related to tests in which the release of the main components of the core melt, namely the steel, zircaloy and uranium components was determined using ThO2 crucibles. The release products are dispersed onto the pipe walls of the transport system and the measuring filters which were installed at about 1 m distance from the melt crucibles. Of these, only the precipitates on the filters have been analyzed so far. In the tests under air, the release was clearly dependent on the maximum temperature reached for the 10 most important elements of corium. The release values for Mo and Mn were the highest with 5-10%; uranium with 0.1% on the other hand, was the lowest. In a steam atmosphere over the melt, the analysis of the filter precipitates for all elements gave considerably lower values than with the tests in air. (orig./LH)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Advances in optics technology, synthetic photochemistry, and the science of photobiology make it possible to think beyond phototherapy and photochemotherapy which is dependent on direct photochemical alteration of metabolites or direct phototoxic insult to cells. This report discusses another gender of photomedicine therapy which includes in vivo photoactivation of medicines, photon-dependent drug delivery, and manipulation of host and exposure source to maximize therapeutic index. These therapeutic manipulations are made possible because the skin is highly overperfused and because non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation that enters skin and blood has adequate photon energy to cause electronic excitation. Radiation of 320-800 nm is not very directly phototoxic, is absorbed by a variety of relatively nontoxic photolabile molecules and has an internal dosimetric depth profile. This radiation can therefore be used to activate, deactivate, bind, release or biotransform medications in vivo in skin or other organs. The photochemist, synthetic chemist and photobiologist can collaborate to significantly increase therapeutic possibilities

AbstractAbstract
[en] This experiment was carried out to develope a technique for labelling pine gall midge with radioactive phosphorus and calcium. This technique evolved would help to obtain basic information on the appropriate concentration of 32P and 45Ca in tagging and determination of adult flight ranges which considered as one of the factors in dissemination. Labelling at the larval stage of pine gall midge by injection of 45Ca into pine tree trunk appeared not to be effective for tagging the adults because radioactivity was gradually decreased to background by emergence. The radioactivities of larvae in the galls gradually increased in September but from October 1 the activity was gradually decreased for 10 days then equilibrium was maintained thereafter. The results seem to indicate that larval diet termination occured early October. A maximum level of radiation was detected at 3 weeks after 32P injection and thereafter it was gradually reduced. This result implies that 32P is not appropriate radioisotope in labelling pine gall midge through trunk injection method. After washing in running water for 10 minutes, the optimum 32P concentration for treated overwintered larvae and pupae was found to be 0.5 micro curie per ml. for 30 minutes dipping. (author)
