AbstractAbstract
[en] The invention concerns a nuclear reactor of the type with a vessel, a vessel head carried at the top of this vessel by a core cylinder comprising a flange internally supported by the vessel, and an upper support structure supported between the core cylinder flange and the vessel head to align laterally the head, vessel, flange and support structure. A bottom key device is provided for lining up the flange, support structure and vessel, and an upper key device for laterally lining up support structure and the vessel head and for maintaining this alignment when they are removed simultaneously from the core cylinder and vessel. When re-assembling the reactor, the top support structure and the vessel head are lowered simultaneously so that an opening in the top alignment structure engages in the upper extension of the bottom alignment structure. A plurality of alignment stuctures may be utilised round the circumference of the reactor vessel. The disposition of the invention also facilitates the removal of the core cylinder from the reactor vessel. In this way, the alignment on re-assembly is ensured by the re-entry of the bottom extension under the flange of the core cylinder with the groove or keyway of the reactor vessel

AbstractAbstract
[en] This invention concerns the creation of a reactor vessel support that does away at low cost with the fitting of seals. This support includes a vessel closure system structure, the vessel being fitted with a peripheral flange, to be maintained by the wall of a container, surrounding the vessel radially, as well as a support ring fitted to the flange and supported by the edge of the container. The support ring and the plug structure are directly connected to the upper surface of the vessel flange

AbstractAbstract
[en] This invention concerns an electric crossover that makes a steam and pressure-tight seal for a conductor crossing two separate walls of a nuclear reactor vessel that seismic tremors or thermal expansion of the walls and conductor subject to relative displacements. The conductors, that have to cross the vessels, are fixed to the walls of the vessel in crossover systems fitted in crossover channels made in the walls of the vessel on their initial manufacture. The separate walls of the vessel move independently when they undergo an earth tremor or a temperature change between the walls or between the conductor. This shift can damage the conductor or the crossover system and this could give rise to cause steam or other materials to leak in the reactor should leaks occur in the primary system. Furthermore, in the case of medium or high power conductors, which are relatively rigid, the non-alignment of the crossover channels can bring about awkward stresses in the conductors or their protective sheathing. The aims of this invention are fulfilled by designing an electric crossover to pass at least one conductor through the two separate walls of a vessels, that includes an initial sub-assembly crossover, secured in a leak-tight manner to the first wall and a second sub-sessembly crossover in sliding or rolling contact with the second wall, whilst forming a leak-tight seal with it

AbstractAbstract
[en] In Petten the Nuclear Structure Group uses neutron radiative capture as a tool for the study of bound and unbound states. Neutron rich nuclei provide a testing ground for physical theories and are relevant for nuclear applications. Moreover, neutron beams do not heat the target and therefore work with polarized target nuclei is feasible. In this paper: a slightly modified text of a video presentation: it will be shown how replacement of the reactor vessel was involving our group

[en] This invention concerns suction pads for supporting loads. Specifically, the suction pad is part of a pair of pads located at the ends of a bridge forming a vehicle for transporting instruments for the non-destructive testing of a large vessel intended to contain a fuel assembly for a nuclear reactor immersed in a liquid metal coolant. For example, the vehicle is of the type described in the French patent application filed this day under the heading 'Vehicle for transporting instruments for testing against a wall'

AbstractAbstract
[en] An arrangement for inspecting a reactor vessel immersed in a water-filled tank comprises a mast carriage which is arranged for movement around the opening of a reactor vessel and which has fixedly connected thereto a mast which carries a track means on which inspection apparatus can be driven. To render it unnecessary to lift the mast carriage and mast into the reactor hall when, for example, replacing inspection apparatus, there is arranged, in accordance with the invention, on the upper end of the mast a docking unit which is provided with a second track means connecting with the first track means. A carriage supporting the inspection apparatus can be driven onto the second track means. Guide means are arranged between the docking unit and the mast, and guide ropes for guiding the docking unit, which is provided with a buoyant body, up to the surface of the tank and to guide and pull the docking unit back to its working position on the mast top
