AbstractAbstract
[en] We present a local convergence analysis of a two-step and derivative-free Kung–Traub’s method, which is based on a parameter and has fourth order of convergence. Using basins of attraction of the method, dynamical behavior of the scheme is studied and the best choice of the parameter is found in the sense of reliability and stability. Some illustrative examples show that as the parameter gets close to zero, radius of convergence of the method becomes larger.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • Reliability of circular k-out-of-n: G balanced system is evaluated. • New balance condition is defined. • New method to evaluate the system balance is proposed. • Procedure to enumerate the minimal path sets is built. • System reliability increases for certain cases. This paper studies a circular k-out-of-n: G balanced systems with identical and independent spatially distributed units. The system consists of an even number of units n which have constant survival probability r and failure probability 1 – r. The system is operating if at least k units are operating and it is balanced. A new balance definition is proposed for this system and the system reliability is calculated when the existing and the proposed system balance conditions are considered. The minimal path sets of the system are considered in the evaluation of the system reliability. The difference between the system reliability values reinforces the need to carefully select the system balance definition, depending on the system.

AbstractAbstract
[en] This tutorial paper is part of a series intended to sensitive on reliability prolems. Reliability probabilistic concept, is an important parameter of availability. Reliability prediction is an estimation process for evaluating design progress. It is only by the application of a reliability program that reliability objectives can be attained through the different stages of work: conception, fabrication, field use. The user is mainly interested in operational reliability. Indication are given on the support and the treatment of data in the case of electronic equipment at C.E.A. Reliability engineering requires a special state of mind which must be formed and developed in a company in the same way as it may be done for example for safety

[en] This memorandum reports on the conclusions of the tests carried out in order to evaluate the reproducibility of ultrasonic tests made on welded joints. FRAMATOME have started a study to assess the dispersion of results afforded by the test line and to characterize its behaviour. The tests covered sensors and ultrasonic generators said to be identical to each other (same commercial batch)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Accelerating system of a cyclotron is described. The system comprises four dees and two mechanically stiff current-conducting buses connecting dees in pairs. To simplify the design and to increase cyclotron operation reliability the buses are connected by theip central parts to a common jumper fixed on a resonance line rod. A possibility of the usage of one resonance line with one device for frequency control in the four-dee accelerating system increases operation reliability and simplifies cyclotron design as a whole. One high-frequency generator is needed for the system supply. The arrangement for an accelerating voltage phasing on dees is not necessary
