AbstractAbstract
[en] The development during the last decade has shown that therapy with open radionuclides plays only a dominating role in the treatment of follicular thyroid diseases. The palliative successes in treating secondary effects of malignant tumours is notable. A decisive development however, can only be expected by introducing new radiopharmaceutics with better enrichment ratios. Some of the described methods have get to be critically compared with other therapeutic measures before these can be recognized as standard methods. (orig.)

Die Entwicklung der letzten Jahre laesst erkennen, dass die Therapie mit offenen Radionucliden eine eindeutige Vorrangstellung nur bei der Behandlung folliculaerer Schilddruesenkrankheiten behaupten konnte. Daneben sind die Palliativerfolge bei der Behandlung von Sekundaererscheinungen maligner Tumoren beachtenswert. Eine entscheidende Fortentwicklung ist aber nur durch Einfuehren neuer Radiopharmaka mit besseren Anreicherungsquotienten zu erwarten. Einige der beschriebenen Methoden beduerfen noch des kritischen Vergleiches mit anderen therapeutischen Massnahmen, ehe sie als Standardmethoden anerkannt werden koennen. (orig.)Original Title

Radioimmunoassay brought speed and convenience to the measurement of compounds with biological activity--with sensitivity in parts per billion. The technique is firmly established, and industry is geared to providing reagents in quantity, laboratories are equipped with pipetting and counting devices, and a large pool of technical expertise exists. [en] Development in the Brazilian and international areas of advanced ceramics is described, emphasizing its economic perspectivas and industrial applications. Results obtained by national institutions are reviewed, mainly in the context of those that pioneered the required high technology in this ceramic field. The rapid growth of the interest for those special materials, made more evident by ample information related to the superconducting ceramics great pontential for important practical applications, is one of the most significant characteristics of the area. [en] In the present chapter of the radiotherapeutical textbook, the author explains in detail numerous radiological terms, parameters and units, gives a survey on clinical dosimetry, which is understood as the application of methods to physically measure and calculate the radiation quality and dose in phantoms and patients, as well as the calibration of monitors of radiotherapeutical apparatus. He also briefly outlines the apparative fundamentals of therapy with energy-rich radiation and explains the basic planning and optimization of the spacial dose distribution, whereby it is only possible to indicate a few typical effects of single influencing parameters in this short survey. In dem vorliegenden Kapitel des strahlentherapeutischen Lehrbuchs erlaeutert der Autor ausfuehrlich eine Vielzahl von radiologischen Begriffen, Groessen und Einheiten, gibt einen Ueberblick ueber die klinische Dosimetrie, die als Anwendung von Verfahren zur physikalischen Messung und Berechnung der Strahlenqualitaet und Dosis in Phantomen und Patienten sowie zur Kalibrierung von Monitoren von strahlentherapeutischen Geraeten verstanden wird, umreisst kurz die apparativen Grundlagen der Therapie mit energiereichen Strahlungen und erlaeutert die Grundlagen der Plannung und Optimierung der raeumlichen Dosisverteilung, wobei bei diesem kurzen Ueberblick nur einige typische Wirkungen einzelner Einflussgroessen aufgezeigt werden koennen.
