AbstractAbstract
[en] An apparatus is provided for closing the bore of a tube and releasably securing articles within the tube under longitudinal load. A latching member has a cylindrical section and several circumferentially-spaced elongated latches hanging down from one end of the cylinder. An elongated actuator has integral cam and spline and is partly located within the latch with the cam radially contacting the latches and the spline projecting into the circumferential spaces between the latches. The actuator is axially movable between a position in which the latches are locked to the tube walls and a position in which the latches are secured from contact with the tube walls. Means are provided for axially moving the actuator such that the cam positions the latches; and means are also provided for engaging the articles within the tube. The closure is particularly applicable to tubular irradiation surveillance specimen assembly holders used in reactors

AbstractAbstract
[en] A device is suggested with which one can introduce or remove samples to be irradiated from the nuclear reactor, into the desired positions in air or under water. It is a mechanical device comprising a casing with a gripping system which brings a plug cell (surrounding the samples) to the desived position by means of a catch arrangement. Technical details are given. The relatively simple construction renders the device very operationally safe and versatile. (HR)

(HR)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The choice of measurement geometry is closely tied to the objective sought in gamma quantitative analysis which consists in identifying the radionuclides present in a sample and in determining the voluminal quantities. The too low efficiency of the detector and the levels of activity sought make it necessary to place the sample in contact with the casing of the detector and select a sample geometry suited to the measurement. In point of fact this choice is often determined by other criteria, availability of the container for example, and this leads the laboratories taking part in the 'Gamma Spectrometry' Working Group of the Comite d'Instrumentation de Radioprotection to adopt joint gamma measurement geometries

AbstractAbstract
[en] The description is given of an apparatus for measuring the radioactivity of the content of several receptacles. It includes an horizontal supporting part with several apertures arranged around its periphery for holding several removable elongated receptacles descending through the apertures and intended to hold a radioactive substance, a vertically placed shaft for rotating the support and to raise and lower it; several probes to house the elongated receptacles held by the support and to measure the radioactivity of these receptacles, the probes being placed under a selected number of receptacles, in line with them

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present invention shows a new apparatus in the field of liquid scintillation counting. The conventional liquid scintillation counters have been designed to measure samples in vials, which volume is typically 6 or 20 ml. In addition a special purpose liquid scintillation counter, the Betaplace is adapted to measure 6 samples at a time deposited on a multi-well sample plate with fixed format and sample well volume. For avoiding the limitations of the above-mentioned liquid scintillation counters, when samples are deposited on various type multi-well sample plates, a new apparatus is shown which is adapted to measure simultaneously one or several liquid scintillation or corresponding samples deposited in sample plates with various sample well volumes belonging to a preselected assortment of different multi-well sample plate types, each having a characteristic two dimensional array of sample wells.
