AbstractAbstract
[en] The experimental carp were raised in the water with 110mAg specific activity of 3.7 x 102 Bq/L, 3.7 x 103 Bq/L, 3.7 x 104 Bq/L respectively. The carp were sampled after raising 1,2,3,5,7,9,12,15,18,21 and 23 days, and separated into scale, bone, muscle, gill, alimentary canal, heart and heptapancreas for measuring the radioactivity. The results showed that 110mAg was absorbed rapidly by carp via gill and alimentary canal from water, and distributed into all parts of the body, mainly in soft tissue with blood circulation. 110mAg accumulation of the body increased with the 110mAg specific activity in the water in the same raising time. The accumulation of 110mAg in gill, alimentary canal, heart, muscle and bone appeared mono-peak curves with raising time. There was a linear relationship between the specific activity of 110mAg in heptapancreas and the carp's raising time in 110mAg water. The concentration abilities for 110mAg in all organs were in the order of heptapancreas>gill>alimentary>canal>heart>muscle>bone

AbstractAbstract
[en] This study aimed to determine whether the uptake and localization of Ag in zebrafish was affected by the presence of polyethylene microplastic beads (PE MPBs). Zebrafish were exposed to 1 μg Ag L"−"1 (radiolabelled with "1"1"0"mAg) for 4 and 24 h in the presence or absence of PE MPBs (10, 100 or 1000 MPBs mL"−"1), and one treatment in which MPBs (1000 MPBs mL"−"1) were incubated with Ag to promote adsorption. The presence of MPBs, at any of the tested doses, had no effect on the uptake or localization of Ag. However, exposure to the Ag-incubated MPBs (∽75% of the Ag bound to MPBs) significantly reduced Ag uptake at both time points and also significantly increased the proportion of intestinal Ag. This study demonstrates that microplastics can alter the bioavailability and uptake route of a metal contaminant in a model fish species. - Highlights: • Zebrafish exposed to Ag in the presence or absence of microplastic beads. • MPBs also incubated with Ag to promote adherence prior to zebrafish exposure. • Presence of MPBs (at any dose) had no impact on uptake or localization of Ag. • Bound to MPBs, Ag less available, but greater localization to intestine. • Study shows that MPBs can change the bioavailability and uptake route of a metal. - Silver bioavailability and uptake route in fish affected by adsorption to microplastic beads.

AbstractAbstract
[en] At IUAC-INGA, our group has studied four neutron rich nuclei of mass-110 region, namely 109,110Ag and 108,110Cd. These nuclei provide the unique platform to study the interplay between Tilted and Principal axis rotation since these are moderately deformed and at the same time, shears structures are present at higher spins. The salient features of the high spin behaviors of these nuclei will be discussed which are the signatures of this interplay

AbstractAbstract
[en] Bicrystals of copper have been sheared along the common boundary at rates of 0.06-0.3 μm/h at temperatures around 725o C. Penetration of Ag110 into static boundaries and boundaries moving in this way was studied by autoradiography. For both moving and static boundaries good agreement is obtained with Fisher's formula. The ratio of the diffusivities in the grain boundary and the bulk crystal (D'/D) is about 106. For the boundaries studied D'/D appears to increase slightly with total shear and with shear rate, but only by a factor of not more than two over the ranges investigated. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The effect was studied of single i.v. injection of 110mAgNO3 (0.183 mg Ag+.kg-1 b.wt.) in rats on the ceruloplasmin (Cp) oxidase activity and copper serum concentration. It was found that Cp oxidase activity in the serum decreased to 70% of the control value and simultaneously serum copper concentration decreased to 30% of the control level. In both cases, the decrease was independent of the time elapsed after silver administration. Comparing these results with those reported recently in mice, Cu deficit in the rat serum was approximately twice as high. This fact is considered to be an inter-species difference. The concentration of copper in the hepatic supernatant significantly decreased (to eight times from the control value) after silver injection. Only less than 10% of the total amount of Ag found in the whole liver was taken up to the hepatic supernatant. Gel permeation chromatography of the supernatant (Sephadex G-75) revealed that no Ag-metallothionein fraction is present. On the basis of the results obtained it was concluded that the mechanism of silver inhibition of Cp oxidase activity still remains to be clarified. (author). 2 tabs., 1 fig., 7 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The diffusion behaviour of matrix-precipitate boundaries is the same as that of interphase boundaries prepared by welding. Therefore the latter can be used to measure diffusivity along interphase boundaries. Diffusion rates of silver along copper-silver interfaces prepared by welding single crystals have been measured. The interfacial diffusion coefficients deduced through different analytical solutions of the diffusion equations, yield for the activation energy and the frequency factor values close to: Q(i)=65kcal/mole Dsub(i)sup(o) delta=100cm3.s-1. These results seem to indicate that, in agreement with Bondy's and Job's previous results, the activation energies for interfacial diffusion are high. Furthermore it is shown that the misorientation between the two phases building the interface has an influence on the measured diffusion coefficients
[fr]

AbstractAbstract
[en] 110mAg, comes from pressurized water reactor units, has become one of the major radionuclides affecting the surrounding environment. The chemical species of 110mAg are controlled by additives or impurities during operation process of nuclear power plant. Colloidal state (named Ag0) and ionic state are main chemical forms. It is difficult to remove Ag0 by commercial ion exchange resin because the colloidal particles have different sizes and low charge. The oxidative resin loaded with Fe3+ were prepared and used for removal of colloidal Ag from aqueous solution. The influence factors such as resin dosage, adsorption time and initial concentration of Ag0 were investigated through batch experiments. The adsorption efficiency of the oxidative resin towards Ag0 in aqueous solution could reach 92.5% under pH 7. The adsorption process corresponds to the Langmuir adsorption model and pseudo-second-order kinetic equation. XPS analysis clearly shows the presence of binding energy peaks of Fe2+ and Ag+, which indicates the adsorption mechanism towards Ag0 is based on the combined actions of redox and ion exchange.
