AbstractAbstract
[en] A summary is given of the investigation of a new mode of operation of a wire chamber involving a self-quenching streamer discharge. The history of the question is briefly discussed. The main characteristics of the self-quenching mode and the influence of the composition and pressure of the gas mixture and the geometrical parameters of the chamber on the characteristics are described. The mechanism of a self-quenching streamer discharge is analyzed. Detectors working in this mode are described, and the prospects for its future use are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Design and function are described of a measuring camera for unsprocketed 35 mm film with a frame size of 28mm x 140mm and a camera running speed of up to 10 frames per second. If required the film advance can be switched from periodic to stochastic operation. Also single-frame shooting is possible. The camera is modular designed. The film exposed is guided to the magazine against gravity. In dependence on the camera running speed a triacetate film is partially deformed if this speed is higher than 8 frames per second

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method for measuring the memory time of a streamer chamber (time from the moment of a particle passage up to the chamber actuation) is described. It is suggested that the memory time of the streamer chamber should be measured by analysis of the gas, outflowing therefrom, with a filmless spark chamber. The gas passing out of the streamer chamber is blown through the spark chamber. The relationship between the memory time of the spark chamber vs. streamer chamber - in the range from 10 to 15 mcs in this case - can be considered linear. The proportional constant is derived from the test. The memory time of a spark chamber is assessed by the results of measuring its efficiency, i.e. the ratio of the number of actuations to the number of starts. The suggested method for control of memory time can be easily automated
