AbstractAbstract
[en] The IAEA Safety Standard SS115: International Basic Safety Standards for the Protection against Ionizing Radiation and for the Safety of Radiation Sources was published in 1996. Following a review of the BSS in 2005-2006, the revision of SS115 started in 2007. The revision of the BSS was coordinated by a BSS Secretariat consisting of representatives of the IAEA, FAO, EC, ILO, UNEP, PAHO, WHO and NEA/OECD. The BSS takes into account the findings of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation and the 2007 recommendations of the International Commission of Radiological Protection (ICRP), the ICRP Statement on Radon that was issued in November 2009, and the ICRP Statement on Tissue Reactions that was released in May 2011. A draft of the revised BSS was submitted to the Member States of the IAEA and of the potential cosponsoring organizations in early 2010 for comment. More than 1500 comments were received. The BSS was approved by the IAEA Safety Standards Committees in late 2010, by the Commission on Safety Standards in May 2011, and by the IAEA Board of Governors on 12 September 2011. The presentation will focus on the main changes to the BSS from the 1996 edition, and on the key issues encountered during the revision of the BSS.

[en] The file quoted by the standard can be divided into two kinds: normative quote and material quote. All the normative quote file, whether it is dated file, or non dated file, shall be listed in 'normative quote file' in the second chapter. All the material quote file, whether it is dated file, or no dated file, may be listed in standard 'reference documentation', or may not be listed. When quoting files, we shall note that the material quote file, unavailable file and referenced standard or file shall not be listed in 'normative quote file . Generally, the quote file in standard issue shall be the latest edition. If the new edition is issued, its applicability shall be considered. (author)

[en] This standard applies to deep, shallow and dish-shaped planchets used in nuclear instruments and serving radioactive substance sampling. The document specifies standardized diameter, height and wall thickness values so as to ensure their replaceability and independence of the supply source. The use of various sizes and shapes in special applications is not prohibited by the standard. (Z.S.) 3 tabs., 2 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] In leak tests, the significance and demands of the measurement are expressed through the degree of the required sensitivity of the test method. The documentation of the tests is therefore differentiated as well. Simple documenting forms are sufficient for simple and not very sensitive testing methods, whereas complex and sensitive test methods require, among other things, recording of all the limiting circumstances. The standard defines the various forms of test documentation and assigns them to the individual test methods. It also addresses the leak test documentation for the case of use of test machines in routine and mass-scale production. The standard is supplemented with an example of a particular leak testing document. (B.S.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The standard is applicable to nuclear reactor protection systems and, in particular, to all interfaces between the reactor protection system and facilities beyond this system, except for (i) the physical connection between the protection system sensors and physical quantities monitored by them; (ii) the electric interconnection between the protection system and reactor control rods or other mechanisms; and (iii) the electric and pneumatic connection to electric supply and pneumatic distribution systems feeding energy to the protection system. The standard lays down definitions of interconnection, principles of protection system uses, requirements placed on facilities interfaced to signals entering the protection system and signals within that system, general requirements placed on facilities interfaced to signals from the protective system, and provisions to ensure protection system independence of the control systems.
