AbstractAbstract
[en] A bosonic knotted string (BKS) should satisfy some conditions in order that the Nambu-Goto variational principle and the statistical sum could be correctly formulated; these conditions are given in terms of cobordism theory. Two spontaneous splitting mechanisms of the BKS are described. A possible interpretation of Montesinos ribbons as many-loop diagrams is examined

AbstractAbstract
[en] A covariant local action for free bosonic string fields is constructed without the use of supplementary fields. The open string case is treated in detail. Up to a mathematical conjecture which is likely to hold it is shown that the Virasoro constraints arise as a special choice of gauge. The kinetic operator turns out to be extremely simple, the gauge transformation law arising rather implicitly. The case of closed strings is briefly discussed. 25 refs. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A covariant wave equation in the Polyakov's Quantum Geometry of Bosonic Strings is proposed. Its main features are the explicit appearance of a metric dependent term (vanishing at D=26) due to the conformal anomaly and its reduction to the Nambu String Wave Equation for D=26, where D is the space-time dimensionality. AbstractAbstract
[en] In this paper the authors consider the set of maps from the interval [9, π] which constitute the argument of the functionals of a string field theory. They show that in order to correctly reproduce results of the dual model one has to include all square integrable functions in the functional integral, or Ω 0 in terms of Sobolev spaces
