AbstractAbstract
[en] Metal foils are suspended with their upper edges from the sheet of the upper border. Their lower edges can move due to thermal effects on the sheet of the lower border. The lower edge is made with a U-shaped cross section, so that the edge away from the foil surface touches the sheet along a line and the distance of the vertical leg of the U corresponds to the spacing of two metal foils. A preferred form of the device provides that the metal foils have L-shaped edges at their upper ends and are welded to the sheet of the upper stepped border. (orig./HP)

(orig./HP)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] Each dish-shaped insulating element in the form of a thick-walled hollow cylinder cut open has a support structure. This consists of profile bars running into the longitudinal eges and annular shell segments on both front sides. The outer walls and inner walls are formed of thin metal foil. Unstable mineral fibre mats are suitable as thermal insulation material. The insulation elements can, if necessary, be matched to pipe elbows, T ducts, pipe flanges and valves. (DG)

(DG)Original Title

[en] The invention relates to thermally-insulating elements. It deals with an insulating element constituted by two telescopic parts, each of which comprises an outer envelope and an inner envelope, and sheets adapted to slide with respect to each other, a bolt prohibiting the disassembly of the whole device. This can be applied to the thermal insulation of reactors and pipes in nuclear power-stations

AbstractAbstract
[en] This disclosure relates to an insulating system which is particularly adapted for insulating the walls, floors, ceilings and like structure of buildings and includes a panel having a hollow chamber or interior under negative pressure (vacuum) and being of a variety of external peripheral sizes and shapes to fit within areas defined by wall and/or floor and/or ceiling studs, beams, or the like, a plurality of springs, chains or the like for supporting the panel in generally spaced relationship to an associated building wall, ceiling, floor or like structure, and a plurality of pin-like elements of relatively small cross-sectional configuration normally spaced from the exterior surface of the panel for contacting a limited exterior surface area of the panel only upon the springs, chains or the like becoming inoperative which would in the absence of the pin-like elements result in direct contact between the panel and the associated building wall, ceiling, floor or like structure and thus reduce the insulating efficiency thereof

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is proposed to use element for thermal insulation of nuclear facilities which consists of individual metal boxes on whose backside a cushion-type heat insulation material is fastened and covered in a dust-free manner by metal foils. These prefabricated elements may be assembled as needed and also easily dismounted. Because of their flexibility special devices to absorb the thermal expansions become unnecessary. The cover with the metal foil is not susceptible to stress corrosion and can easily be decontaminated. Variations of the constructional design are claimed. (UWI)

(UWI)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] In liquid metal cooled reactors, the components and pipes in which the liquid metal flows must be lagged to lessen the losses of thermal energy generated in the reactor, limit the heating of adjacent structures (concrete and steel) and to maintain the liquid metal coolant above its point of solidification in the components during the periods of reactor shut-down. Although the present facilities do their job in a satisfactory manner, nevertheless they are devoid of defects, thus the tightly adjusted lagging used at the present time makes inspections extremely difficult and tedious. Furthermore, the impossibility of inspecting some components owing to the presence of tightly adjusted heat lagging, may well become intolerable in the future. Added to which, the cost of these facilities is high. The feature of the present installation is that certain components are arranged in a lagged enclosure around these components but spaced out enough for their easy inspection; the heating facilities are arranged in this enclosure so that the components may be heated virtually evenly and the cooling facilities are provided on the outside surface of this lagged enclosure. For greater safety, the inside atmosphere of the enclosure is preferably composed of an inert gas for the reactor coolant, such as nitrogen, argon or helium
