AbstractAbstract
[en] A multielectrode thermionic converter is presented. It consists of 5 electrodes with no internal connections except the cesium plasma. The series functions of the electrode and the possibility of use of different electrode pairs as independent converters is pointed out. A significant efficiency of this new type multielectrode thermionic converter is expected. (author)

[en] For a heat transfer facility, a so-called gas-stabilized heat pipe, an improvement is described which shall guarantee that control of the operational temperature will be possible with high accuracy, independent of the direction of heat transport. It is characterized by a connecting pipe originating at the gas reservoir, passing through the chamber in axial direction, and being provided with openings in the range of the cooling as well as the heating pipes. It is of advantage to provide the inner walls of the connecting pipe as well as the gas reservoir with a capillary structure. (UWI)

Es wird eine Verbesserung an einer Waermeuebertragungsvorrichtung beschrieben, an einem sogenannten gasstabilisierten Waermerohr, bei der erreicht werden soll, dass unabhaengig von der Waermetransportrichtung eine Regelung der Betriebstemperatur mit hoher Genauigkeit moeglich ist. Sie ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein vom Gasreservoir ausgehendes Verbindungsrohr die Kammer in Achsrichtung durchquert und sowohl im Bereich der Kuehl- als auch der Heizzone mit Oeffnungen versehen ist. Vorteilhaft sind sowohl das Verbindungsrohr wie das Gasreservoir an ihren Innenwaenden mit einer Kapillar-Struktur versehen. (UWI)Original Title

[en] The work reported here constitutes an approach to the thermionic conversion process usually associated with the engineer rather than the physicist. This approach recognises a certain number of significant variables and then proceeds to generate, in a systematic fashion, the experimental data necessary to define the dependence of each of these variables on all others. Finally, correlations of these dependencies are presented in a graphical form suitable to the practical user of thermionic conversion as well as the theoretician involved in the basic physics of the process. AbstractAbstract
[en] The parameters of a new type of thermionic converter which has a number of concentric electrodes, is computed. The obtained theoretical efficiency of this new type of converter is nearly the efficiency of the ideal thermionic converter. The obtained results are explained by the reduction of the radiation loss from the emitter due to the electrode configuration. Efficiencies as high as 20% are expected from this type of converter now in construction. (author)
