[en] The ultrasonic pulses are produced in the bodies and reflected at the walls. The running times of the pulses reflected at the walls are measured. The wall thickness is determined from the running times via the speed of sound in the body. The signals obtained with a receiver are compared with a threshold value, which is set at the start of the measurement to a low basic value. For each signal measured which exceeds the appropriate threshold values are measured. The maximum value of time corresponds to the running time of the rear wall echo. (orig./HP)

Die Ultraschallimpulse werden in den Koerpern hervorgerufen und an den Waenden reflektiert. Die Laufzeiten der an den Waenden reflektierten Impulse werden gemessen. Aus den Laufzeiten wird ueber die jeweilige Schallgeschwindigkeit im Koerper die Wanddicke bestimmt. Die mit einem Empfaenger erhaltenen Messignale werden jeweils mit einem Schwellenwert verglichen, der zu Beginn der Messung auf einen niedrigen Basiswert eingestellt wird. Mit jedem den jeweils zugeordneten Schwellenwert uebersteigenden Messignal wird der Schwellenwert auf die Amplitude des Messignals neu eingestellt. Die Zeiten von einem vorgegebenen Startzeitpunkt bis zu den die Schwellenwerte ueberschreitenden Messimpulsen werden gemessen. Der maximale Wert der Zeit entspricht der Laufzeit des Rueckwandechos.
