AbstractAbstract
[en] A double-arm time-of-flight spectrometer of nuclear fragments for the investigation of heavy nuclei photofission in the intermediate energy range is described. The calibration results and working characteristics of the spectrometer, obtained using 252Cf as a source of spontaneous fission, are presented. A mass resolution of σ m ∼2-3 a.m.u. was obtained within the registered fragments mass range of 80-160 a.m.u. The spectrometer was tested in the experiment on the investigation of 238U nuclei fission by Bremsstahlung photons with Eγ max=1.75 GeV

AbstractAbstract
[en] A time of flight mass spectrometer is described that comprises an analyser chamber containing a pulsed ion source, an ion detector, and an ion reflecting system disposed on a single ion-optical axis. Full constructional details are given, and advantages are described. (U.K.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new method in surface analysis by MeV heavy ion backscattering spectrometry is proposed. In order to overcome the difficulty due to limited resolution of solid state detectors we have developed a time of flight spectrometer with a resolution up to 150 ps. The capabilities and limitations of this method are investigated. Successful applications are demontrated by measurements of oxide layers thickness as well as metal diffusion into amorphous material

AbstractAbstract
[en] Two soil samples were subjected to comprehensive study of the self-diffusion coefficient of Zn in soils previously treated with ZnSO4, EDTA and Zn-EDTA. The effect of chelating compounds on the ratio between solid phase fraction of the labile Zn and its concentration in the soil solution (capacity factor) was also studied. The data revealed the following items of more interest: (1) The use of chelating agents, i.e. EDTA and Zn-EDTA, increased the amount of Zn in soil solution hence, the capacity factor was decreased when these compounds were used. The effect of EDTA and Zn-EDTA on the capacity factors was different according to the type of soil, i.e. calcareous and alluvial. (2) The increasing of Zn-concentration in the soil solution, due to the use of chelating agents, increased the self-diffusion coefficient of Zn in the investigated soils. The self-diffusion coefficient for Zn in the alluvial soils was more than that of calcareous one. (3) The practical implication of the present study is that organic ameniments and chelated Zn fertilizers are expected to be more effective than soluble Zn salts in alleviating its deficiency in such soils. AbstractAbstract
[en] The sliding seal chamber at the anticoincidence time-of-flight spectrometer was replaced by a new one. Its diamter was enlarged to 56 cm and the five openings (18 x 32 cm2) where the coincidence counters could be mounted cover an angular range of 220 degrees. The chamber can be rotated within a range of 110 degrees. (orig.)
