AbstractAbstract
[en] Environmental samples have been analyzed by LFE for 234U, 235U, and 238U. Samples from research studies have been analyzed for 233U or 232U. Samples from nuclear facilities have been analyzed for combinations of the above isotopes, and also for 236U and the short half-lived isotopes, 237U and 240U. The methods involve classical chemical purification procedures, including precipitation, extraction, and/or ion exchange. Isotope dilution methods are used with either 232U or 233U as tracers, and alpha spectroscopy

AbstractAbstract
[en] The book describes location laws, the main properties of geological structure and industrial perspectives for known uranium mines of the Republic of Tajikistan. Used methods of industrial processing of uranium mines are described. The results of investigations of technological properties of main types of uranium ores and methods of industrial processing of some of them are shown. Main properties of uranium are shortly described as well as problems, connected with it, which arise during exploitation, mining and processing of uranium ores. The main methods of solution of these problems are shown. The book has interest for specialists of mining, geological, chemical, and technological fields as well as for students of appropriate universities. This book will be interested for usual reader, too, if they are interested in mineral resources of their country

AbstractAbstract
[en] The acknowledgement of the geological history of a ore reserve allows to infer relative to a large area with possibility to contain the large mineral content or even give the localization of new anomalies or mineral reserve. The study of ore reserve genesis is of great importance for the stages to obtain the mineral, from the prospection until the mineral mining. Fluid inclusions (FI) are fluid quantities which are imprison in the minerals during the formation process or some process where deformation occurs. The study of fluid inclusions, together with the petrographic mapping of the blades associated to the uranium para genesis of Lagoa Real, Brazil, are been used for a better comprehension of the uranium orogenesis. The main analysis techniques used in this context were the petrography and microthermometry. With the petrographic analysis fluid inclusions were observed and mapped in various minerals present in rocks associated to uranium mineralization, such as amphiboles, pyroxenes and grenades. The micro thermometric studies were only performed in the pyroxenes and the grenades due to the fluid inclusions types found in these minerals, and also the supposed relationships that those minerals have with uranium mineralization at that region. AbstractAbstract
[en] The nuclear fuel cycle is a strategic area for the Brazilian development because it is associated with the generation of electricity needed to boost the country economy. Uranium is one the chemical elements in this cycle and its concentration and isotope composition must be accurately known. In this present work, the reliability of the uranium concentration and isotope ratio measurements carried out at the CTMSP analytical laboratories is evaluated by the results obtained in an international interlaboratory comparison program. AbstractAbstract
[en] A financial report for 1978 is presented. Net earnings were $17,618,000. The Beaverlodge mine produced 307,000 tons of ore, and the mill 1,283,000 lb. of concentrate. The Port Hope refinery produced 1,283,000 lb of UF6 and 2.1 million lb. of U02. The construction of a new UF6 refinery near Port Granby, Ontario was turned down by the federal government on environmental grounds. The search for a new site is continuing. Exploration is underway in seven provinces and two territories; a share in the Key Lake joint venture was acquired. (LL)

Recent developments in uranium resources and supply. Proceedings of a technical committee meeting held in Vienna, 24-28 May 1993
AbstractAbstract
[en] Among nuclear fuel cycle issues, those dealing with the future supply of raw materials for the power reactors are on the agenda of this Technical Committee. As the newly extracted uranium is only part of the supply available to utilities, this paper will first discuss the prospects of future demand and supply, taking into account the medium term impact of the inventories and the increasing role of recycling. For the longer term the key issue will be the future production coming from uranium resources presently known in the ground. While the Red Book is the international reference on uranium resources, questions are raised by the production side of the industry on the value of these ''official figures'' and the future availability of these raw materials in the present market situation. The uranium reserves appraisal issue is detailed in the second part of this paper. (author). 3 refs, 6 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Searches of uranium industrial mines in Tajikistan began during he post-war period. Soon they resulted with discovery of a number of mines. Uranium mines in Taboshar and Adrasmon made the region of Northern Tajikistan as priority area for organization of their industrial processing. Also the foreword gives short description about geological searches for other uranium mines on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan
