AbstractAbstract
[en] Studied has been the porosity of the 25-mm dia molybdenum monocrystals, produced through the electronic crucibleless zone melting. The electron-microscopic method has been used. The monocrystal porosity studies have revealed that 1-2 micron pores are prevailing. When the number of passes grows and the zone velocity lowers, the quantity of pores decreases

AbstractAbstract
[en] Uranium and thorium behaviour during aluminium refining by crystallization from the melt is ascertained. Measurements of of uranium and thorium radioactive impurities content in high-purity aluminiumn samples using the surface α-activity method are carried out. The content of the given impurities happened to be less than 1 x 10-7 mass.%. Such purity satisfies the requirements to materials applied in the low background 71Ge detection system of gallium-germanium solar neutrino detector

AbstractAbstract
[en] Rolled target foils withstand due to their crystalline structure longer a heavy ion beam than evaporated targets. This fact is important for experiments with very heavy ions available now at the SUPER HILAC at Berkeley or at the UNILAC at Darmstadt, Germany. Because the crystalline disorientation of the targets by the heavy ion beam requires a frequent target exchange to prevent a deterioration of the energy resolution, a method was developed to produce large quantities of rolled targets with thicknesses below 1 mg/cm2

AbstractAbstract
[en] Evaluation of the possibilities of uranium purification by the method of crucibleless zone melting using the C-701 and IEBZ-2 installations is carried out. The analysis of the metal for 17 metal and 5 non-metals microimpurities is made by the method of the spark mass-spectrometry. It is shown that the crucibleless zone melting is sufficiently effective for afterpurification of metal uranium. After two passes of the melted zone the amount of microimpurities in uranium sample decreased twofold in the average (from 0.8 to 0.4 at.%). The fact that the melted zone is hardy held with the surface forces and formation of chemical compounds films took place on the metal surface is the main difficulty in the process realization

AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: It has been worked out a new method of growing single crystals of binary solid solutions using feeding alloys.First the feeding alloy is prepared in a form of cylinder, then it is recrystallized by zone melting. The received alloy is used a feeding rod in two versions: 1)if the distribution coefficient of the second component is k<1 the feeding is started from the beginning of the prepared alloy, 2) if k>1 the feeding is started from the end of the prepared alloy.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The features of zone distillation (with zone melting of refined material and with pulling of condensate) as a new purification method are shown. The method is based on similarity of equations of distillation and crystallization refining. The analogy between some distillation and condensation methods (particularly between zone distillation and zone recrystallization) is should up

AbstractAbstract
[en] TiC single crystals were prepared by vertical zone melting for measurements of the phonon dispersion by inelastic neutron scattering. The influence of the starting material and of the growing conditions on the growth of the crystal were studied. The crystals were characterized by chemical methods, EMX and neutron diffraction. It was possible to grow single crystals with a volume of up to 0.6 cm3 and mosaic spread of less then 0.40. (orig.)

(orig.)Original Title
