Neptunium-237 production from atmospheric nuclear testing
Description
Mass-spectrometric measurements on neptunium and plutonium from two soil samples that are representative of global fallout have been completed. The 237Np/239Pu atom ratio is 0.7 +- 0.2. This ratio, when multiplied by the amount of plutonium in worldwide fallout, indicates that 3 t of 237Np were produced by atmospheric testing to date
