Genotype x environment interaction studies in wheat (triticum aestivum L.) mutant lines

  • 1. Nuclear Inst. for Food and Agriculture, Peshawar (Pakistan)

Description

The study undertaken to identity stable wheat mutants derived from variety Lu-26 through gamma radiation, with regards to plant height and grain yield over a period of two consective years. Analysis of variance combined over years revealed significant genotype x environment interactions for plant height and grain yield at 1% and 5% level of significance respectively. Upon examination of the size of variety x year interaction relate to the varietal average effects, it was observed that the size of the interaction was small in both the characters studied. Two mutant lines i.e. WM-92-19-2 and WM-92-24-2 expressed high degree of stability regarding plant height; however, most of the mutants were not stable in their performance over years with respect to grain yield.
