Description

The paper contents a description of binary system with the pulsar PSR 1913+16 for which a change of orbital period has been interpreted as a result of energy loss caused by an emission of gravitational waves. It is briefly discussed a physics of close binaries, reasons of change of orbital periods and some problems of evolution of binary stars concerning especially origin of neutron stars and pulsars among them. There are also presented observational problems and models of system with the pulsar PSR 1913+16 as well as an analysis of data is given. It is cited a discussion and opinion of discoverer of the pulsar that the quadrupole gravitational radiation is the observational fact. 40 refs., 1 fig., 2 tabs. (author)
