Effect of carnosine on the activity of hemopoietic stem cells in irradiated animals
- 1. M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State Univ. (Russian Federation)
- 2. Russian Ministry of Health, Moscow (Russian Federation)
Description
Carnosine introduced into adult animals with their drinking water 1 day before or peritoneally injected 1 h after γ-irradiation is shown to enhance colony production by hemopoietic stem cells which migrate from the bone marrow into the spleen. In young animals with a high colony-forming activity, carnosine either decreases or has no effect on colony formation. 9 refs., 4 tabs
